I know that the idea here is to discuss age difference and the different perceptions in straight versus gay situations, and that is all fine. Javi is an adult, and can make his own choices, these are just dumb and unfortunate comments, and we need to ignore them, and by the way, so does Javi, if he wants to run his own darn life.
But using Jimmy Page as a reference point is about as unfortunate as can be. Or misleading.
The girl was 14 years of age, Jimmy Page drugged her up, abducted her first to a hotel room, and then supposedly to South America, and the girl's parents have never seen their 14 year old daughter ever again. I cannot even imagine what these poor parents must have gone through. The girl was slut-shamed and called a groupie, even though she had been plucked from the audience by one of Page's handlers.
I remember living in Germany and was a teenager myself, when all this went down. Interpol got involved and they were searching for the girl. The shameful thing was that Jimmy Page was not arrested and locked up, which is what should have happened. But he was a 'Rock God', and national as well as international organizations rather twisted the law, than arrest him any time he set foot on an airport or any arena. They just did not fulfill the law. Period.
it was a huge scandal, as it should have been, and conservatives, at the time, rightfully complained, that liberals clearly had different standards of law for different people, and apparently it was ok to sacrifice a 14 year old on the altar of sexual revolution and rock&roll. Yes, it was all over the media, it was news everywhere.
It is my understanding that JP waited until the girl was of consenting age and she was then paraded in front of cameras, where she make a statement that she was happy with her life and did not want to return home, and that was the end of that. Nobody knows, what the circumstances were for her over the years I just know that this is the first time I heard the term Stockholm syndrom, growing up.
Yes, pedophilia and child rape accusations were often hanging over Jimmy Page's head, even though he was never charged. And that is besides all the plagiarism discussions and charges that keep coming up again and again. He got away with pretty much everything in his life. There is presently one new case being prosecuted in NY regarding the plagiarism charges, and as far as I hear, this law suit is such that for the first time Jimmy Page is sweating a bit, that this one might actually have some teeth. Dunno.
So far nobody has charged him over all the other accusations, and it is safe to say, that the statue of limitations means that this will remain that way.
Jimmy Page may be a great guitar player and song-(re)writer, but an angel or even a nice guy, he is not. There are reasons that Robert Plant is quite careful with reunion plans, there is more charred soil there, than most of the public knows. Contrary to the Queen guys, who fought with each other, but generally were nice guys, things were not always so kosher with Led Zep.
Good music does not mean good person. Even the folklore knows that one: i.e. The devil supposedly was an excellent violin players and used his fiddle to mislead those that trusted the beautiful sounds. Just saying. The story is not new, it just keeps repeating in different variations.
So, the last story I want to see Adam compared to, is this mess that I just described. There is also no reason for bringing it up. Javi is of consenting age and about 5 years beyond it. It is their life, and should not be mixed up with such a pedophilia story. And whoever may have started it on twitter or wherever, either had bad intentions and wanted to paint Adam in a shady light, or knew nothing about the comparisons that he or she was drawing. Hopefully it stops quickly.
Anyways, I hope Adam knows to tread carefully when it comes to Jimmy Page. I would not touch him with a ten-foot pole, for all its worth. Churns my stomach to see Adam even compared to that mess from 40 years ago. Totally unfair.
Thanks. That was before my time so I had never heard of it. The documentary was misleading as it did not share all of this. And the woman in the interview only called herself his former girlfriend. But you are right, my comment had nothing to do with Adam and I'm sorry it was introduced as part of that story. Was not my intent. I have little interest in wanting to be in the middle of Adam's private life more than he wants to share. And his relationship is not in the same league with anything illegal so should be left out of it and left alone. And ugly comments should be left where they are. Wow. I never heard the whole story about JP. Regardless of whether a person in gay or straight, it matters a great deal when a person is underage. That changes the whole scenario. I remember that Elvis met Priscilla when she was just 14 or something like that. He went into the army. They got together again afterward. I don't think JP would get away with any of that stuff in today's social women's rights climate.

@adamlambertidol: POLLSTAR Deems Adam Lambert a Key Factor in The Renaissance of Queen - adam-lambert.org/pollstar-deems-adam-lambert-a-key-factor-in-the-renaissance-of-queen/ POLLSTAR credits three things responsible for the rebirth of Queen – “a new frontman, new energy and a hit movie.” The main catalyst is singled out – “…renaissance for Queen that has been building steadily since the introduction of lead singer Adam Lambert – one whose participation in the band’s legacy has moved far beyond “tiniest part.” This article details the road taken by Queen + Adam Lambert, including heavy concentration on the stats. The only thing left out of their sequence was the very important 2013 iHeart Las Vegas appearance, which many have said was the testing ground for the eventual tours. Queen + Adam Lambert is here to stay. We’ve now got another 2019 North American summer tour, an April 29 NBC 2-hour documentary on the band, and from the Oscar success of Bohemian Rhapsody, don’t you think more countries and dates will be added to the tour? To drive the point home, for those of us still watching TV and listening to radio, you can’t go 15 minutes without hearing a commercial that uses Queen’s music. The only thing we sadly may never get is new music from the band. Start the article below and click MORE at the end for the entire piece. Article can be found here www.pollstar.com/article/the-renaissance-of-queen-new-frontman-new-energy-and-a-hit-movie-137418We Are The Champions:Queen + Adam Lambert kick things off at the Academy Awards at Los Angeles’ Dolby Theatre Feb. 24 with a rousing performance before “Bohemian Rhapsody” lead Rami Malek won the Oscar for Best Actor. When accepting his Oscar for portraying the late rock star Freddie Mercury in the 2018 biopic “Bohemian Rhapsody,” Best Actor winner Rami Malek thanked Queen for allowing him to be “the tiniest part of your phenomenal, extraordinary legacy” – capping an award season that saw numerous wins for the young actor in the film about the iconic rock band’s legendary frontman. The film, released last fall, came during a time of renaissance for Queen that has been building steadily since the introduction of lead singer Adam Lambert – one whose participation in the band’s legacy has moved far beyond “tiniest part.” Lambert first sang with Queen on the television show “American Idol” when he was the Season 8 runner-up in 2009. That performance led to the band’s interest in the singer touring as the official frontman. After an initial appearance together late in 2011, they first joined forces on the road in the summer of 2012 for a handful of European dates. By the time 2014 arrived, the members of Queen, together with Lambert, announced a full-fledged arena tour through North America that was set to kick off during that summer. The successful pairing led to an expanded 2014 tour with legs added in Asia and Oceania as well as a European run and a final Latin American stint in 2015. Queen + Adam Lambert ended both years ranked among Pollstar’s Top 100 Worldwide tours. In 2014 the group took the No. 35 slot with $37 million in sales from 338,146 sold tickets and scored the No. 46 ranking the following year based on a gross of $31.7 million from a total ticket count of 319,106. Their next road outing came during the summer of 2016 with a string of summer dates in Europe, primarily at festivals, stadiums and other outdoor concert sites. Only two of the headlining performances were reported - the first one a June 15 event in Brussels at Palais 12, one of the larger indoor arenas in Belgium. Grossing more than half-a-million dollars, the venue hosted 7,068 Queen fans. Later that month, the group also played an outdoor event at the piazza Anfiteatro Camerini in the city of Piazzola sul Brenta in northern Italy, moving 10,189 tickets with sales topping $1 million. In September of that year the group headed to Asia for a string of concerts. One of those shows is also recorded in Pollstar’s boxoffice archives – a Sept. 26 concert in China that grossed just over $1 million from a crowd of 8,913 fans at Shanghai’s Mercedes-Benz Arena. The most recent worldwide arena trek for Queen + Adam Lambert began the following year on June 23, 2017, in Phoenix, the first stop on a six-week run through the U.S. and Canada. The tour included 25 shows in 24 cities that summer and produced $27.9 million in boxoffice revenue from 287,032 sold tickets. Los Angeles was the one city that hosted the band for two nights, drawing a two-show total of 32,433 fans for performances on June 26-27 at the Hollywood Bowl. Later in the tour, the group completed two stretches through Europe, the first in November and December of 2017 and the second in June and July of 2018. Wedged in between was a six-city jaunt in Australia and New Zealand beginning on Feb. 17, 2018, and finishing on March 6. The 2017-18 trek wrapped in September with a 10-show engagement at the Park Theater at Park MGM in Las Vegas. The band saw sold ticket revenue reach $7.4 million at the venue from 46,866 sold seats. Dubbed “The Crown Jewels,” the mini-residency – which included taped segments of Freddie Mercury’s actual vocals along with the live performances by the band – ran from Sept. 1-22. Stone Cold Crazy: AP Photo / Chris Pizzello / Invision Stone Cold Crazy:In 2014 and 2015, Queen + Adam Lambert grossed a combined $68.7 million. Along with Malek’s personal success as the star of “Bohemian Rhapsody,” the film itself earned awards and nominations as one of the most critically acclaimed of 2018. In addition to an Oscar nomination for Best Picture, the film won the Golden Globe Award for Best Motion Picture-Drama back in January. Building on the popularity of the movie, Queen + Adam Lambert announced a new tour in December that will debut this summer, launching in Vancouver on July 10 and continuing through Aug. 23 with a finale planned in Charlotte. Named the Rhapsody Tour, it will play arenas in 23 cities in North America including New York City, Los Angeles, Toronto, Houston and Washington, D.C. among others. They also announced a documentary called “The Show Must Go On: The Queen + Adam Lambert Story” to air on ABC April 29. Guitarist Brian May commented in a press release when the tour was announced that the upcoming trek is a great opportunity for the band. “Our last tour featured our most ambitious production ever, and got us our best notices ever. So we decided to rip it apart and get even more ambitious! Watch out, America!” Bandmate Roger Taylor continued, “We are ready for America and raring to get back in the saddle.” Lambert also weighed in on the upcoming summer jaunt, stating, “We have been designing a brand new visual spectacle that will reframe these iconic songs and we are excited to unveil it.”

And once again, I'm glad that it makes the point that QAL was riding high and strong well BEFORE the movie came out.

That was the day that I forgot to eat. Had a banana in the morning, worked out, and then it was all about the Oscars ... An hour into the show I was wondering why my stomach was growling. DH was "conveniently" out of town lol.

I have both YouTube versions of Adam's Feel Something on a loop and to me, it's interesting to watch the numbers between the 2 versions. The studio version seems to be catching up to the audio version and it makes me wonder if Adam did both versions to test responses. His live performances seem to really hit with people and I'm curious if both version were just a "gift" or if there is more method to it. Gotta say, I love both versions equally. Adam live is always a treasure of course, but I do love the recording as well. It is very atmospheric and soothing to me. So...it comes natural to me to hang out on Spotify and hit #FeelSomething in all playlist variations.
