Am I doing something wrong or is the google universe and the 'media' completely ignoring last night's procedings?? I have googled adam and duggan in numerous configureations and come up with a few links to here and other adam sights but that is it. Usually these things are picked up and commented on pretty quickly...is it just because Adam did not adress it himself? any ideas? I think this came and went so quickly overnight, and Duggan not being a high-profile personality, it didn't register outside the Adam universe. I'm just so glad the media didn't pick up much on the Galliano tweets that I'm willing to give 'em this one too. I sure hope they pick up on the $1 Million fundraising achievement though! True...you make a good point juniemoon. I am posting a link on the state of journalism tho....OTT as far as Adam stanning goes...completely. However, I know there are a few media/journalism/communication specialists here as well as just plain interested folks. A young up and coming Canadian journalist reached the gagging point with the self-censoring and other censoring that has largely made real investigative reporting an oxymoron. He up and quit hs job and wrote this blog explaining why he did that. The blog post went viral! He is couch surfing his way across the country and looking for a way to make a positive difference in the world. If you are interested...here is the link to the original blog post. kainagata.com/2011/07/08/why-i-quit-my-job/ETA...we have a small 'organization' that brings in interesting speakers....sometimes in a formal setting and sometimes in an old-fashioned 'salon' setting. I was at a 'salon' discussion with Kai just last week. We need more of his type!! really interesting

That's what makes following him so much fun. We have no Idea what to expect from his wardrobe, interviews, performances, albums or his voice. He has said his approach to singing has changed a lot in the last two years and it shows on his new album. I'm glad we don't know what to expect even if I have bouts of anxiety because of it. How dull the life of a Nickelback fan must be. I so agree with this. Even when I don't like something he says/does/wears/sings (ok, that's rare), I appreciate that he's always evolving and challenging himself to try something new, as well as creating, expressing himself, and spreading positive energy through his art, which in his case is multi-faceted. He's human, he's flawed as are we all, but he's almost always fascinating.

Do you want to know how much I loved seeing another locker at school decorated today with a picture of Adam on the outside right there in the middle of several other teen heart throbs???? And it is right across from my door! Then, one of my 8th grade students is a huge fan, (of course, she is a very cool girl, lol,) and I heard her talking about him with a bunch of other girls this morning about how they were going to request his music. I really am 13 again.

Jesslala, I had not seen about half of those pics before. Fun! Thanks. Altho....I personally prefer aqua (my favorite color) to khaki (boring for me). I'm probably in the minority on that one, too, lol.
Rihannsu, great post.

Own your power as a fan and wield it wisely. Hmm... I'm getting increasing uncomfortable with some the suggestions being bandied around here. I'm not sure I can articulate it, but there has been a lot of talk about "forgiveness", "benefit of the doubt" when to reply and how much to pile on based an offensive comment, and when is the penance enough the last few days, and many seemingly contradictory perspectives (as juniemoon pointed out). I personally don't see the need to pursue the Duggar tweet any further. It was a single tweet from a individual account by someone with relatively few followers. Because they also have a job at a small am radio station fans took it seriously and contacted their employer. Who responded pretty quickly and may have asked the person to write an apology. The apology was kinda laughable, but mostly because of his unwitting assumptions about fans. There was no indication that his tweet about adam was based on homophobia or antisemitism, even though it was obviously made more horrible to readers who know Adam because of these echos. It was extremely tasteless and unfunny, but he could have as easily made it about Beiber if he'd appeared on his "who to follow" sidebar. Contacting the FCC, the press, passing on screen caps to his employers by email feels like torches and pitchforks to me, a bit of a witch-hunt at this point. A few thoughtfully written responses pointing out the errors in his assumptions made the point clearly and eloquently. Beating it into the ground again in again by posting the same message (even very clearly and persuasively) doesn't teach someone the error of their ways, it makes them batten their hatches and eventually go into hiding, as this guy obviously has. YMMV. ETA: I'm a little late, sorry for the downer tone...

Well, I am with you. Love me some angsty, emotional, musically complex torch songs, and Adam would TEAR THEM UP!
