Now we have an album where he has had the time to work on the vocals for a few month and was responsible for the production and creative direction. I think the result will be we get fully Adamized songs out of the gate. From your mouth post to @god's ears! This is my most fervent wish re this Album.

I dunno why but Im even more excited about the 2nd album and single now, even after hearing that it will be delayed. ;D What I wish with regards to the singles, in addition to them being brilliant, is that they will translate easily to live performances. Now please dont throw things at me, but to me personally, the tv performances of FYE, WWFM and IIHY were..well, a little awkward and the vocals didnt come across as being as mindblowingly amazing as we know them to be from GNT and AI performances. Perhaps it is because on the sets of the tv shows, the sounds dont resonate as much and the sound feeds straight to the mic, as Adam had once mentioned.., or perhaps its because Adam still gets nervous performing for tv, as he said in his interview with Heidi.. but it seems to me that the biggest thing is that the songs were just really hard to sing live., as is evident by the many cringe worthy attempts made by other people to sing them... Songs like fever, sure fire winners and strut I think, would have translated better to live performances and would have better showcased the vocals, although I am aware, that they may not have been radio hits.. So what I;m saying, is that I hope Adams next single will be both a big hit on the radio and be able to showcase Adams amazing vocals and stage presence to their fullest. IDK, most of the performances of WWFM were pretty amazing. The WWFM performance on Ellen was a really good one. I even thought Adam's first performance of WWFM on Letterman was good. I remember the performances on the CBS Early Show were impressive, as well as the ones on Oprah. Performances on TV are probably never going to sound like they do in a concert setting, but after watching some of the live performances on awards shows over the past couple of years- I would have to rank Adam up at the top of the list. (except for the AMAs :( )

I'm thinking he learned a whole lot about choosing singles by singing FYE live those few times we got it. And yeah, my enthusiasm about the next era got ramped up significantly these past few days. I can feel the buzz starting- it may be a murmur right now but it will increase with each day and a month from now we'll be rolling in press and announcements regarding appearances! YAY!! Me too!! *claps hands enthusiastically* Yeah it seems, that even with the delay, I'm more excited then ever for the single and album!!

I am sure he learned all kinds of important stuff this past year: the radio sound preferences, the radio PD's styles, how it feels to promote on TV, on a large stage (awards) show, how it translates into a tour performance, unplugged, acoustic, remixed, etc, etc, etc... all of this most probably plays into the album composition now - no wonder it is so difficult and long of a process! I am unhappy he is taking his time, I just want the first single ASAP :-[

Really? Hmmm, very surprised at those comments. I thought his TV performances were wonderful (except for the vocal in FYE at the AMAs. And even that is not as bad as I first remembered.) I was in the live audience for several of his live performances and, for me, they were great. His live performances are of course different than the album versions but they are supposed to be. They're live. And 186,000 people mut have loved the green tornado performance from Idol because that is what WWFM sold in the 2 weeks immediately following it. I love FYE and almost every song on it. It is still in heavy rotation in my car CD player. I do expect album #2 to be phenomenal, but I love album #1! ETA:

I know that stores are supposed to keep track thrugh the product code how many they sell but I wonder if employees look at the empty space and say wow, that's the AL album that sells and look this one that's still here noone is buying? This is greatly simplified but..... For the three US traditional retailers who matter in music sales -- Walmart, Target and Best Buy -- the store employees have little or nothing to do with the music department stock. And most are part-time employees who do not have much awareness of the music department. (This is a very small department in all three chains and store employees pay attention to the department with lots of sales $$$) In all three cases, and it does not matter if the music department is owned or done by a third party (like Walmart), all three use sophisticated forecast and replenishment systems to set stocking levels and have centralized merchandising departments who decide on initial ordering and stocking levels. That said, store employees notice the unusually high selling CDs -- maybe that will be Adam in the future -- recent notable high-selling artists SuBo and Adele and Little Wayne. BUT store employees really notice the artists who do not sell and who generate big returns -- Britney's last album and Gaga's last album had way too much stock in retail. The MJ This Is It displays were stuffed with inventory that moved much more slowly than anticipated. And anyone who has worked for a retailers knows that dreaded words -- Return to Vendor (RTV). Tons or work, just expense with no sales for anyone. Music fans have more awareness than the employees of these chains. It was different when there were music specialty stores. Hope that makes sense. So "accidentally" dropping the bastard CDs and kicking them under the kiosk....? probably wouldn't be noticed quickly right... (so tempted once at a Barnes n Noble where Take One was the only Adam CD in stock)

OT, but earlier today we had talked about how we waited in vain for Adam's pants to rip or split or something during Glam Nation! I just watched the David Cook video and it is hysetrical. From his banter, sounds like he may have been commando. The roadies came out and wrapped duct tape around his pants. He changed the name of one song from Declaration to Dicklaration and was hoping the guitar (until the duct tape arrived) was covering his junk! Sigh!! Damn SkinGraft for making such a great product! :-/ I know!! darn!! really I wonder what would have happened to the fandom if Adam's pants have ripped while he was singing one of his dancing numbers and he wouldn't have had a guitar to cover himself. I still remember that one time when he was dancing to fever and the laces must not have been tied tight enough and he had to keep his hands on the pants to keep it up, darn can't remember what concert that was.

ETA: Well I have to amend my comments to say, his performances of FYE and IIHY and some of his early WWFM performances. I think the more time that he had to work with these songs the better they got when they were performed live. And I agree with Q3, (who said what I was trying to say much more clearly )

On U.S. TV, I think we got 2 really good performances of IIHY on Ellen and The Tonight Show (and an awesome performance of Sleepwalker on the Tonight Show, in full Romulan garb!). There were a lot more performances of WWFM, of course, because Adam was on tour shortly after IIHY was released. I can't remember all of the WWFMs (Letterman, SYTYCD, Tonight Show, Ellen, etc.), but this is one of my favorites, from Grammy week this year:

This is Adam's first TV performance of WWFM, I think. Sounds pretty darn great to me! Sounds like the single, which is what he would want since he is trying to get people to buy the single. And OMG! Those pants!!
