I was just catching up on some threads from the past few days, and someone posted that old article from Brad Laidman... on Rock Week when Adam sang WLL. Some of the comments were too friggin' hilarious... "Don't worry Brad. I'm a 39 year old happily married woman, and I want to jump Adam's bones too."

I think it all started with me asking myself if my parents would be a fan of Adam if he would do their favorite kind of music....[my parents] love classical turkish music and don't like pop music that much. I am sure they will love his voice. But i wasn't sure about Adams androgynous look. ...since I'm not a fan of the music and I was a little bit to young (I'm in my twenties now). I was not aware that [one of my parents' favorite singers, Zeki Müren] had a very effiminate look.  This album album cover reminds me a little bit of the FYE cover ;D. Well, after seeing/reading this, I have no doubt, that if Adam would start making classical Turkish music, [my parents] would love him. But well, I'm very happy this will not happen, cause then I would have to listen to that kind of music and had to listen to it in my childhood way too often. I'm really not a fan of classical turkish music. [grin] You know, aralid, that since Adam really like Middle Eastern sounds (ex. Ring of Fire) you COULD be stuck some day listening to Adam singing some Turkish-like music!!! Just say'n!   since i had gone to bed after writing my story, the other thread is dead now and it is a new day for me, I will answer here. 8-) interestingly the instrumental part of the studio version of soaked sounds very familiar to me to something i heard a long time ago. It is the melody and the arrangement (especially the violins) i think, but i cannot tell you what it is specifically. Maybe someday i will find it out. He must have been very brave! His life could have been in danger! the only thing i found that after a coup d'état in 1980 he was banned from stages for a few years along with other singers like Bülent Ersoy, who is a transgender. She, too, is one of the most famous singers in Turkey and her sexuality isn't an issue, in Turkey they call her "abla" (older sister). i tend to believe that they and also Adam has opened and will open the hearts of those who love their music and their voices. |
