Now they are just teasing us!!!! Yeah I know huh! And Adam..I think you just need to drop your album already, cause it seems that you just keep having ideas after ideas, to the point you're never going to be finished with this album. That's ok he can just keep releasing a steady stream of singles.....rihanna does!

I'll admit to being a simpleton in many ways. I have nothing to contribute to the discussion/opinions regarding the bastard album-to-be. When all the dust settles, I'm telling you - I will want every knitted thread, every snippet, every example of Adam's voice. I hunger for every song he's ever sung. How will I get it? No clue. But I will need and desire and yearn and ask for every spine-tingling note as if I were begging for the drug that will keep me sane. I'm observing a controversy I can't move forward - - - I have no knowledge and no clue who is doing what, or why - - - and when all is said and done I will base my feelings entirely upon what I hear from Adam. Primarily because I want to be as good and kind as he. I don't know how he feels today. I am judging his judges; his cohorts and mentors of years ago. How can I step into the shoes they wore? When they were so busy trying? Working together? I'll excuse myself from this discussion and move to simpler pursuits. So - right now I will be selfish and focus on me!! A relentless sap, I am. Moments ago we sold my car. My car I got from my dad when he died in 1998. It was a really good car. But it's time for a change. I'm crying over goodbye to a fucking car. My friend is dying of brain cancer. Where are my priorities? Where are ours? Momtomany, you are wonderful.

And I think this means we can put SAM's track on the album this time!!!! No kidding!!! Ain't nobody gonna make the "Gee, Niles, thanks for the great guitar, but the track didn't make the cut" call. Think we're going to be singing "Freak Out!" more than once before this record's released. Niles played guitar, and produced with his Chic bandmate: Found this vid about Niles. Gotta love that '80's flatop hair

Where are ours? Every time you got in the car you were with your dad again... My priority is to keep the joy in my life. The threads lately have made this a little difficult, but good people and pretty pics make it worth hanging around.

Nile Rodgers!!!!! OMG!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Not just Bowie --- but in an odd full circle moment he produced Madonna's IMO best music -- Material Girl and Like a Virgin. Last I heard he was battling cancer but still working. I went to a cancer research benefit he was involved with recently. I am tired and my memory is a bit unreliable right now -- moving overload so correct me if I have mixed this up. I would be thrilled if he lent some killer guitar to Adam's new album. The whole tweet sequence seems designed to amuse us and generate buzz -- mark me a skeptic about these public album chatter tweets being impromptu, but please keep them up. You're right, Nile Rogers is battling cancer. In googling about him I found this article: David Bowie has sent a message of support to wish producer Nile Rogers - who he has worked with on two solo albums - well in his cancer battle.
The legendary 'Space Oddity' singer and songwriter rarely appears or speaks publicly anymore, but today (03.02.11) sent a message to the producer wish him well in his present battle against cancer. The pair previously worked together on David's records 'Fame' in 1983 and 'Black Tie White Noise' in 1993.
The message on www.davidbowie.com stated: "All our love and support goes out to you, Nile, you are the greatest. David, and all at BowieNet."
Nile - who was the guitarist in funk band Chic and has produced records for some of the biggest names in pop including Michael Jackson and Madonna - revealed he has been
suffering from cancer since October 2010 last month, adding he had kept it secret, as he didn't want his family to worry.
Describing his experience he said: "I found out I had aggressive cancer. In an instant, everything in my happy-music universe imploded. It was like Jaws was savagely eating me from the inside out." I was asking my son, who is a writer/producer just starting out, about him tonight, and he told me this nice story about Nile Rodgers. A while ago, my son emailed Nile telling him that he was an inspiration to him; shortly thereafter, Nile sent him a DM personally thanking him for his message. Since Nile Rodgers is one of his heroes, that DM meant a lot. My son says that Nile recently announced that he just beat cancer. Having him connected in any way with Adam on his album would be full of cred win!

I came to Adam because he brought me joy and liberation after my mother died. That is what I want to feel again. The rest of this stuff I do not need in my life.

As an added bonus for you, if Nile does play on Adam's album, you wont have to force him to listen to it. ;D I get the feeling that inside the music indusry Adam's cred as a person and as a singer/musician is growing. You can feel it with all these new collabs. Now the rest of the world just has to catch up.

Mika, thanks for the link to the Nile Rogers book exerpt. He seems to be just as talented a writer as he is a musician. Impressive and inspiring. Alison and Jamie - Happy to share! The NYT piece was tweeted to me and I was just bowled over - such gorgeous, heart-felt writing. I knew about NR's eminence as a music producer but had no idea he could write like this. Then I was visiting a friend recently who has bkstore and she'd gotten an advance copy of his book; I skimmed and it's all fascinating (though I still love the first part the most). The way Rodgers has been involved w/iconic or key pop culture moments was a revelation. Grace Jones and Studio 54 - hah! (And I know nothing about it b/c I am not a gamer but a friend claims NR's soundtrack work w/Halo and that other big game are also important. I'll have to take his word for it ) Anyway, re early east coast rap and then hip hop: Sugarhill Gang and Rapper's Delight, I found the vid below and am adding it. It's all fascinating (Blondie/The Clash - oh for a time machine) but most interesting comment is NR story around 3:00. (Anyway, after that is gratuitous recent Jimmy Fallon/Justin Timberlake history of rap medley which I think I posted at the time as I'm amused that it's both entertaining and pretty accurate as a very abbreviated cliffnotes history of hip hop. Note the first jam.) Fallon/Timberlake Sorry if this is spam but I really love seeing cultural connections and one type of music flowing into another. It would be lovely if Adam - who is a sponge for knowledge - could spend some quality time w/NR. (He could do his Oprah thing for hours and hours :D)

I am guessing that Sam is producing, knows Niles, and wants Niles to lay down some guitar! FLAIL!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Yes, that appears to be the case. And I think this means we can put SAM's track on the album this time!!!! I still think the biggest miss of FYE was NOT putting Voodoo on the main album!!! (Well maybe it was not releasing 28 tracks!!!_ I agree! Love Voo Doo!
