I was just thinking about the MSG shows, still on the high! ...in retrospect there is only one “disappointing” moment - I wish he did the “carry the torch” speech rather than the “pink elephant “ variety... doesn’t matter of course... so, it seems New York Times didn’t bother with a review this time? Did they? I just can’t watch the speech anymore. And why does Adam keep bowing down to Brian? Adam is a star in his own right - one of three people who make this whole thing happen, each equally dependent on the others. Time he realised that. It’s not the Brian and Freddie Show. I think the bowing is getting to Bri as well... some recent show (forget which one) dr Bri bowed to Adam as well!

I could be wrong but I've always had the impression the bowing and stuff like that is all done in fun, Adam's quirky silliness and that he and Brian are just playing.

blackqueen65. . Undoubtedly you are right. Of course it is in fun. I just don’t like to see it. I feel it creates an impression that is unnecessary; Adam as overly deferential when his input is central and huge and proactive. I think Brian and Adam can have fun and interact in a way that presents a more equal partnership footing. That’s all...

They have been together way too long to act as if your presence is an accident and in need of an explanation. It doesn't work well now. In some ways it works against him. The fans coming to the concerts know they are coming to see Queen with Adam and not Freddie. And he already has the crowd screaming for more before the speech so clearly it is not needed to get them going and for acceptance of him. They have been accepting him for years and anyone paying even a small amount of attention would know that. Even Adam knows that cause he is having such a good time and having a ball, lol. He can't miss the excitement they have for him and Queen. It does not feel good to see him put himself down. I don't think most paying to see the show want or expect him to do that before they can have a good time. Freddie has been gone for 26 years. Even some of the press are asking why.

Going to see QAL TONIGHT! I guess the thing I'm most worried about is gridlock Friday Chicago traffic. We don't live all that far from the United Center, but around here, getting there is like crossing the Alps. Have a great time!
Just a suggestion -- Uber/Lyft work real well to United Center. And you can arrange for your return pick-up in advance. They have a large pickup area. You can avoid the pre- and post-concert mess mostly because you don't have to part.
That venue is as bad as it gets.

Adam is a star in his own right - one of three people who make this whole thing happen, each equally dependent on the others. Time he realised that. It’s not the Brian and Freddie Show. Of course, we Glamberts consider Adam on equal footing with Brian and Roger. Maybe I even think Adam is the real star, as they would not have had this resurgence of success and acclaim without him (as demonstrated by Queen + Paul Rogers). I think Adam carries the show. Yes. I am a Glambert. And proud of it. I also acknowledge that this is a Queen show with the addition of Adam. A majority of folks in the audience are there mainly for Queen; their music, their reputation, their history. And Freddie looms large in the minds of these folks. Regardless of how extraordinary Adam is in the role of frontman, and how amazing his vocals are, he is fighting an uphill battle to be accepted fronting such an iconic band. There are those just waiting to find fault in Adam. He has to win them over emotionally before they will listen with open ears and hearts. He has found a surefire way to do that by paying respect and homage to Brian, Roger and Freddie as he does. Adam is an ultimate showman. While he says he is enjoying being himself on stage, he is also playing a role. It is all well planned, well thought out, well tested during 200 performances. He knows just what notes and phrases will elicit gasps from the audience. What looks and interpretations will bring smiles to their faces, will inspire them to sing along, will draw sighs of awe for the sounds and visuals and costumes. He is playing to the crowd. And, in his opinion, the deference, humility, and homage are precisely what the crowd wants and needs. "I give the people what they want!" I think Adam has also taught Roger and Brian a thing or two about putting on a show for the crowd. Especially Brian. They don't need the obsequience and bows. They consider Adam their mate, their brother, their equal. They know 150% what they have in Adam and what he brings to the show. They don't need Adam to stroke their egos. But they see that what Adam is doing works for the crowd. They go along with it. In my mind, I know it is all a show, all theater, designed for their audience. And it works! So I think we must bite the bullet and deal with the pink elephant, the Freddie is a god, etc.

Just be sure you have a confirmed pre-scheduled ride. In Tacoma there were no Lyfts or Ubers (or even cabs) available after the concert. There were more than 100 people milling around the pickup spot waiting for rides and there were none to be had. We tried for an hour and couldn't get a ride, they kept upping the price (from $27 to $56 to $77 to $88) and then saying no drivers were available, try again later. During the time we were waiting we only saw 3 customers picked up. We finally had to call a friend to come and get us. As a result, we changed our hotel reservation in New Orleans from one a mile away from the venue to one right next door so we don't have to depend on Lyft or Uber. Just to be clear, I love Lyft, I use it all the time at home ... this may have been just a Tacoma anomaly.
