That's a great story. I have a somewhat similar one. A co-worker of mine took his family, including two teenagers, to see
Bohemian Rhapsody and they loved it. He said after that, all the kids played in the house was Queen and the son went on to
see the movie two more times. He plays guitar and Brian was now his hero. They then watched videos of QAL and his kids
said they only liked Queen with Freddie. They also knew Adam from Idol and the entire family thought he was too
over-the-top. When the concert was announced, my co-worker was hesitant but open to seeing them but the kids didn't want
to go because of Adam so he would have to convince them. I told my co-worker that if his son's hero was Brian, he should
go see him as you don't know how much longer they will be touring. I also said I've read comments that when you're
actually at the concert and hearing the band and are surrounded by other Queen fans who are really into it, you don't
really focus on the lead singer. My co-worker convinced his family and he and I both went online and bought tickets as
soon as they came on sale.
As I was walking out of the concert, my co-worker sent a text "Great show! 😀👍". When I got home, I asked what did his
family think. He said "Everyone loved it! Thanks for helping me get the tickets." I said I was worried since they thought
Adam was too over-the-top and also asked how his son liked Brian. He said "Loved it. We knew Adam would be over the top,
but everyone felt he did it justice. Great tribute to Freddy, great recognition of Roger and Brian, and Adam have it his
own style rather than imitating. So so good. 😀" He also said he wouldn't mind seeing the show again.
My co-worker also said he bumped into another co-worker of ours on the way out of the concert. So the next day I asked him
how he enjoyed the show. He said "great show! I went with my 15yr old daughter. she loved it too. She is a big fan - I
was surprised she knew all the words to the songs last night! I've been a life-long queen fan and have been pretty
impressed w/ Adam. Great to see those old guys getting excited to rock out with him"
I torture myself daily going to Queenzone, Queenonline and Queen Facebook and reading haters' comments so it's nice to hear
some Adam appreciation from six people who had never seen QAL before, and especially from the ones who were really skeptical.
