While I appreciate the *spirit* of what Steven Tyler is trying to do...unisex clothing is just stupid. Shirts, yeah that's pretty easy, as would be pajamas or tank tops and stuff, but when it comes to certain things like pants or blazers and shit, you need to take into account the way men and women's bodies are different. Women have all kinds of figure issues and I don't know how unisex clothing will be good for anyone but the most thin, wafish figured girls and boys. Now unisex fragrance or makeup or whatever is fine...I just....I am skeptical. My question is why do we have to keep on 'reinventing the wheel'? Feminists covered all this territory years ago...there is a fundamental difference between 'the same' and 'equal'....don't want to be the same...just equal...and that goes for the rights of wardrobe choices as well as work opportunities or cognitive respect. I don't want to wear the same shirt or jacket as a man or see 'mine' on 'him'! I want to see 'him' have the same levels or degrees of choice as I and vice versus. That may indeed mean the same jacket, but not automatically mean that. Am I making sense to you?? sigh.... |
