Okay, I've finally figured out why I'm so drawn to AFL and it's this hair discussion that made me realize it. He's got nerve. He's unafraid. Traits I wish I had but not in this lifetime. I'm not keen on this current hairstyle but I'm keen on his ability to wear it, own it, detractors be damned. That goes for his hair, his makeup, his clothes, his music choices. If we could all be so fearless. Well, maybe not all of us. It takes fearless and fearful, tenors and baritones, blondes and redheads, lefties and righties....uhhh, male and female, Finnish and American...uhh...country and pop...uhhh...you get my drift... Came across this yesterday. This is so true. No wonder Adam likes burrito :D Yep, Adam adores me. He said so yesterday. LOL! I'm convinced he loves me best of all the Glamberts because I feed his ego and his tummy. ;D |

oh, peeps are upset about Adam's hair, huh? Honestly, I barely noticed. the hair changes with the wind, the weather and his moods. whetevs
ETA: Lynne!! I liked your post. My kids are wild little rebels too. Brilliant, all of them, but wild, non-conformist, gonna-do-things-their-way kind of girls. Got to love them for who they are are, not who you want them to be, right?

Reluctantly putting on my mod hat to say:
Please remember the few important rules we have here. You all know them, but, read them again anyway, please.
1. You must be an Adam fan.
2. You must be respectful of other members. Feel free to express your opinion, but be glitterier and golden.
3. Strive to be funny, entertaining or informative when you post. Avoid posting something that has already been posted.
4. Never question anyone's right to post, the appropriateness of a topic or define the proper way for an Adam fan or Adamtopia Member to behave. Let the moderators do their job.
These rules include the words "glitterier", "golden" "funny" "entertaining" and "informative." It doesn't mean we can't angst or even complain, but I interpret it to mean we need to strive to make it light-hearted and fun.
"You must be respectful to other members" is a given, but, how one shows respect is open to interpretation. My take on it is to not directly address the PERSON making a statement, but instead, discuss the ideas. And to not use judgmental words. "I respectfully disagree" works. "That is stupid/wrong/overreacting/etc" is often interpreted as attacks on the person.
One of the great things about forums like this is that we can all express our opinions and ideas instantly. One of the drawbacks of forums like this is that we can all express our opinions and ideas instantly. When in doubt, may I suggest holding off on responding or writing that post for a bit? Composing it offline and letting it sit and marinate for a while and then going back and seeing if that is worth saying, is said in the way you wanted it said, and will contribute to the forum? If it is a gem, it will still be a gem in another half hour.
Finally, there are two wonderful features of this forum. The first is SCROLL. You don't have to read the 153rd post about the hairstyle, or the most recent conjecture on when the single will be released. The second is DELETE. If you realize that a post you wrote does not follow the rules or contribute to the discussion in a positive way, you can always go back and delete your own post from the thread. If someone has quoted it, you can ask a mod to delete the quotes.
It is an anxious time for Adam fans, waiting for news about new music and appearances. Many are on edge. Let's all remember to tread lightly and speak kindly during this time. Good stuff will be here shortly.

It's ten in the morning at my Taco Bell so too early to go to my happy place. Not sure I can brave another day of hair gate without some fortification.  Skimming thru the thread I misread the word in bold. I thought you had typed "fornication." Give it a very different slant!!! |

YMMV but I am a very joyful person, but I reserve to wank on his hair if I want to. I do it because it's silly and harmless imo and I know at least *I* am just joking about it. I am srsly not up at night worrying over his hair. Also I am the kind of person that will never ever kiss his ass just because I am a fan. I am gonna speak my mind and lol over things I find lulzy and rage over things I find ragey and so on and so forth,If you don;t like his hair--fine. If you do--great. Jebus. I am not gonna censor myself over something so trivial. And like Forrest Gump would say.... And that's all I have to say about that. I must be missing the post where anyone said anything about turning in your "fan card" or being a bad fan?? is this from another thread? or are we extrapalating some hidden message that no one directly said? Fanoftheman said this She's the one questioning her own fandom, no one else is doing that as far as I can see. did I miss something? |
