My love!! Happy halloween!![/b] fb.me/QAkxrLaE
To all the folks in the Northeastern US – Happy Snow-Tober!!
Countdown to Halloween – 1 more day
Mischief Day & Night!
Mischief Night (also known as Devil's Night, Hell Night, Cabbage Night, Gate Night, Mizzy Night, Miggy Night, Goosing Night, and Egg Nyte) is an annual tradition in parts of England, Canada, and the United States when people (primarily teenagers and preteens) take a degree of license to play pranks and do mischief in their neighborhoods. The most common date for Mischief Night in North America is October 30, the day before Halloween. However the traditional British Mischief Night is November 4, the night before Bonfire Night, as this was the night Guy Fawkes was in 1605 caught trying to blow up the House of Lords.

American Idol, Queens and Adam
10.30.11 by Q3
For over two years people have been asking, “Why didn’t Adam win Idol?” It is a singing competition and Adam was the best singer. In fact, Adam is one of many “best” vocalists who did not win Idol. We all know that Idol is NOT a singing competition – so what is it?
Many theories have been put forward. And as time passes, the result of American Idol Season 8 still seems odd. Long ago I set aside all the power texting conspiracies. Rejected the complex demographic viewer analysis. It is all meaningless.
The explanation is in this video about Idol’s induction into the Broadcasting & Cable Hall of Fame:
link.brightcove.com/services/player/bcpid14080861001?bckey=AQ~~,AAAAAx_4TCE~,2j1DnvR_vOFULJqLkO9thCMh168rG6XU&bctid=1241771336001
Note: Adam is in the video 2 times at 2:26 and 2:48.
It contained these words…..
Turning ORDINARY PEOPLE
into SUPERSTARS.
into SUPERSTARS.
It finally dawned on me. It is the modern version of “Queen for a Day”. “Queen for a Day” was an was an American radio and television game show that helped to usher in American listeners' and viewers' fascination with big-prize giveaway shows. Queen for a Day originated on the Mutual Radio Network on April 30, 1945 in New York City before moving to Los Angeles a few months later, and running until 1957. The show then ran on NBC Television from 1956 to 1964. The series is considered a forerunner of modern-day "reality television". More info here: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Queen_for_a_Day
All the “Queen for a Day” contestants were women, and the only way to win was by tell a sob story that connected with the live female audience, who would then award her the greatest volume on the "applause meter".
Most of the episodes of QFAD were not recorded. A few survive and one is posted on YouTube. If you have never seen the show, it is worth a peak:
QFAD is why Adam could never win – when he walked onto the Idol stage, he was not ORDINARY, he was already a STAR. He was the Black Swan.
Idol voters do not want to discover a STAR, they want to transform THE GUY NEXT DOOR into a STAR. Just like the audience did with the “Queen for a Day”. The fact that it doesn’t last, really doesn’t matter. It is the belief that it could happen to anyone, even me, my son or daughter, my friend. Someone I know.
And in AI8 the Idol Producers made it plain as can be – they even labeled the final GUYLINER vs. THE GUY NEXT DOOR.
This is not news, not revolutionary. High school kids to the paint salesman, the winners are ordinary people with some talent who have the spotlight on them for a while. And because of this, most fade away as Idol fans move on to the next new thing. [The exceptions – two winners who were less ordinary than they appeared on the show – Carrie and Kelly Clarkson – have achieved lasting success.]
I know many, many people. Gay and straight and other, fat and thin, rich and poor, flamboyant and fabulous, professionals and artists…but I know no one who is like Adam Lambert. I am convinced he is truly a Black Swan* – and the Black Swan can never win an Idol crown.
* The black swan theory or theory of black swan events is a metaphor that encapsulates the concept that The event is a surprise (to the observer) and has a major impact. After the fact, the event is rationalized by hindsight.

365 Days of Halloween
10/30/2011 by NoAngel
I'd love to see you all feeling creative. Dress up is the BEST expression (besides music of course) ~ Adam Lambert
For kids in the U.S., Halloween is a time for playing dress-up, loading up on free candy, and eating said candy until they throw up or mom hides the stash. Over the years, adults have joined in the fun and it's become a major holiday. Grown men and women embrace the chance to wear costumes and party in character for one night of the year. Adam is no exception—he embraces Halloween as his favorite holiday and parties as hard as anyone. The difference is, when everyone else puts away the dress-up box, Adam leaves it out. For Adam, the spirit of Halloween lives all year-round.
For many adults, wearing costumes on Halloween is a way to lose their inhibitions, to hide behind a mask while expressing themselves in ways they can't or won't or dare not in real life. For one night a year, they put on a costume that expresses some facet of their inner selves. And on November 1st, they put on their everyday clothes again and carry on being grown-ups. The woman in the Chanel suit may have been a naughty French maid the night before. The guy in the next cubicle may have dressed in drag. But you'll never know; the "real" self and the fantasy are kept carefully separate.
For Adam, playing dress-up is as much a part of his everyday life as it was when he was a kid. For someone else, animal-print leggings might be part of a costume. For Adam, it's something to wear while doing a little shopping. The fear that stops other people from experimenting with their looks is absent in Adam. Eclectic and OTT fashion? Sequins and spikes? Hair colored green or blue or both, or shaved half-off? It's all part of an ongoing process of self-expression.
When Adam started talking about his next era—about honesty and realness, about more leather and less glitter, some people interpreted that to mean that we would be seeing a more stripped-down Adam. As if something elemental had been hidden and was going to be revealed. The thing is, Adam in jeans and a t-shirt is no more real than Adam in sky-high medges and rhinestones. His body is a canvas on which he paints whatever expresses his mood and his spirit in the moment. The glam look of the FYE era was not a mask but rather an aspect of himself he chose to emphasize for a while. In moving on he is not rejecting or denying that aspect, but instead focusing on other facets of himself.
Adam knows that the real self is not static, but is ever-evolving and endlessly complex. For Adam, dress-up is a way to show all sides of himself. He uses wardrobe, hair, and makeup to both create a persona and to reveal personality; it is as much a part of his artistry as is singing. Instead of waiting for one day a year on which to play dress-up, he is brave enough to play every single day, and he wishes more of us would do the same.
Adam loves Halloween not because it is a momentary escape for his inner child but because for one day, everyone comes out to play with him.
"Freedom of expression, people, freedom of expression…"
