Just catching up. But my hope for the EMA's "and more. " is that Adam sings with Queen AND THEN debuts his new hot single and it explodes all over the planet!!!! The planet would likely incinerate!! ;D Awwww... that would be too much! As it is the 40 yrs anniversary of Queen they just have to play Bohemian Rapsody and there is only one person on this planet who can sing it as well as Freddie. So, we'll gonna hear Adam sing it there! Just believe me!

Guess this is a good time to delurk! I have read that here in the UK the EMAs are being shown from 9pm, which is actually an hour later than when they start (9pm CET). So we are watching the awards on an hour's delay. This is because of the UK 'watershed' ruling whereby excessive swearing, violence etc cannot be shown before 9pm. I guess they anticipate a lively show!

The minute Hubby got home I Squeeeeeeeeee about the Adam & Queen rumor. I'd much rather hear Adam sing "The Show Must Go On" I think that would be a great song for Adam too. Here's a little hisory of the making of this song I thought was interesting. Demo versions featured May singing, having to sing some parts in falsetto because they were too high. When Brian May presented the final demo to Mercury, he had doubts that Mercury would be physically capable of singing the song's highly demanding vocal line, due to the extent of his illness at the time. To May's surprise, when the time came to record the vocals, Mercury consumed a measure of vodka and said "I'll fuckin do it, darling!" then proceeded to nail the vocal line in one take without problems. The bit w/ Freddie in drag reminded me of I Want to Break Free The single was received very positively over most of the world except for North America. In April 1984, it became No 3 in the United Kingdom, and was within top 10 in many European and Latin American countries, but only peaked at #45 in the US charts. The single was certified gold in the UK. The video for the song, featuring Mercury in women's outfit with a thick moustache, and its ban by MTV and some other US stations played a role in the low US ranking. According to May in an interview about Queen's Greatest Hits, whereas the video was understood and taken as a joke in UK, the US audience failed to see the soap-opera connection and might have interpreted the video as an open declaration of transvestitism and Mercury's bisexuality. Sound familiar? You would think we would be past all the nonsense by now. It must be a tricky thing navigating the the road he's on.
