Related to the SLUG also known as Welsford -- there is NO chance that Adam was unaware Welsford would throw this Idol violation cherry bomb at Adam. I have not pulled out the Idol contract to reread but I am almost 100% sure that there is a provision where the producers can let anyone on the show the want and pick any outcome they want. Regarding the question about a Musical Services Agreement -- they are almost always for a specific performance or recording -- here is a sample: www.musiccontracts101.com/docs/sample/I have looked into this issue for almost a year and cannot figure out where the conflict with the Idol rules is. Unless Adam signed a very odd MSA, it would have been completed before he went on Idol. If it was not fully discharged, Adam would have taken care of getting a release before he went on Idol. There has been something odd about the whole Welsford deal since the start. Loads of Idols have pre-Idol albums. They get released, only a few die hard fans buy them, life goes on. Even the winners keep their crowns. Why is this so different? JMHO -- Adam (and his lawyers) will kill this. As anyone in business for themselves can probably say, you can be sued for ANYTHNG even if it makes NO sense whatsoever. It ties up time and money, and MAYBE at the end of the day, the suing party will get some money, whether or not they deserve it, just to get them to go away. You have to defend yourself or default. |

Much more detail in Billboard. Now this silly suit makes sense. SLUGS SLUGS SLUGS. How can they claim with a straight face that they still have a contract with Adam? Are those things in effect for unlimited periods of time? It's been a long time, they never did any work on his behalf, and I can't even imagine this is anything real. So- when you say it makes sense, do you mean it might have some merit? ETA: Oh, good! Saw your edit above! There are so many "timelies" in those contracts. Everything is suppose to be done in a "timely manner." I assume the law has an interpretation of "timely." Five years is hardly timely. |

I am less worried about the law suit itself, than the smear campaign regarding idol eligibility violation....
They are making it sound like Adam deliberately lied to audition, which is a serious blow to his reputation, regardless of the outome of the law suit. I hope either RCA or American Idol will step up to clear up the issue.

Hahah omg I love that! *saves* I must admit when I first saw the part about the lawsuit stating Adam was technically ineligible for AI, I fretted a bit. These low-life motherfuckers are clearly doing everything they can to maliciously go after Adam and trying to make him look like the bad guy. Thing is, even IF it's accurate, it means that Adam either didn't understand the contract with Welsford or the contract with AI. And at this point, who cares? Adam didn't win (thank fuck!) and AI is hardly going to spend its time and energy going after Adam. So it goes back to Welsford the bottom-feeder and his wish to punish Adam. If he had played his cards right, he could have actually done this on the up-and-up, maybe gotten Adam to okay something, and made some decent bucks. As it is, i hope he's tied up in court for ages and spends a shitload of money on this bs. And yeah, the evidence points to Monte being involved in some way, even if only that he's not on Adam's side in this. Good enough for me-- he can gtfo. Finally, I do think Adam can turn this shit into PR gold. On the plus side, it's about music, after all! :D |
