Hi cassie - to my ears it sounded like Adam used more vibrato than usual in this performance. I'm curious if you agree and if so, why do you think he chose to do that? I agree that he used a prominent vibrato. I hear it as a stylistic thing. He did it on Soaked in GNT as well. I think it evokes drama in high order. OTT. One can't do Freddy without super drama vocally and visually. The vibrato adds a type of sophistication, class, and a classical touch to my ears. Instead of the hard rock piercing wails. Freddy enjoyed adding classical references in his compositions. Lots of sophistication, musically. He also sometimes used a lot of vibrato. What is amazing about the performance (well, what isn't?) is how powerful Adam sounded, how fierce, how commanding, and yet, there was not a smidge of strain or stress in his voice. A very classical, legitimate sounding powerhouse, that somehow totally fit with Queen's classic rock. Well, isn't that an interesting tweet! Hmmm, does Brooke know something that we have been guessing about?! timing is everything and would be perfect timing to release that single on the back of the buzz around this performance. But then I am sure it has all been planned out for ages. Would love to know how long this gig has been in the works. I am so hoping that the 11-11-11 is the day! ...when did Alisan do her "poop" tweet? - was that the "earliest" indication? |

Such a task would No Doubt be daunting for many a singer, but not for Lambert. At the end of the day, he delivered.  The most notable thing about his performance was that Lambert did not make the slightest attempt to diminish Mercury's genius by trying to duplicate him. Instead, he infused his own brand of genius into the arrangement. It was an homage to one of Lambert's admitted heroes and a golden moment for he and his fans - perhaps for some Queen fans as well. more... This is a GREAT review.. this one and Lyndsey off course |
