OK LMAO at this from queenonline: Yes. Because want to see video of Freddie on a big screen during a rock show. Why not just watch youtube then? Wow...fandoms of all kinds are pretty cray in their own individual ways. LOL :  : : : Shees, dude, seriously? I mean, of course, haterz gonna hate, but the "The dude can't sing" meme is really pathetic. I guess it's almost as bad as homophobic comments when putting down Adam to defend Freddie or saying, "Adam's more flamboyant then Freddie." ??? So patently untrue, but seems that's typical of someone who needs to defend their position regardless of its rationality. Reminds me of the old idol bubble debates. I don't get why people who don't like a singer's style try to claim they aren't excellent singers when they are. I used to use the example of Mariah, Celine, etc. Sure, they are not my cuppa, but I would never in a million years try to say they can't sing. And yeah, charging money to run 20+-year-old home movies without today's digital sound? I'm sure that will go over very well. It seems when people need to go to great lengths to hate, they make up the craziest stuff. The only emotion I experience when I see the comments of that kind is the pity for the person that made them. Period. and now I am off to the Met Opera to go through my usual routine for the last two years: imagine that Adam is singing one of the tenor parts... doesn't matter how exquisite the performing tenor is :-[ (#iampathetic) |

I'm sorry but I will have to say it as well. Paul Rodgers didnt do it for me at all. He looked old and sloppy and smarmy. And although he has a decent voice and pretty good interpretation there was no pizazz. Adam's voice has emotion, power and great beauty. Listening to Adam sing that song is like sitting in an opera house and soaking in the sublime. Listening to PR is like sitting in a pizza joint and downing a beer.LOLOLOL.... okay, aloha.... you said it way better!!!!   |

I see lots of Atoppers agree RE: Paul Rodgers (great analogy, Aloha, lol)! I'm on a short break and have a question that I just can't figure out the answer to--I KNOW SOMEONE AT ATOP WILL BE ABLE TO "ESPLAIN" IT TO ME: I don't even know HOW many different versions of the performance I've watched--but I've HEARD 4 distinctly different sounds: 1) the original LiveStream on MTVEMA (thru laptop) 2) the broadcast on an HDTV (but it wasn't an HD Channel) 3) this version on youtube 4) and the fan video below (just saw this one this morning...IF YOU HAVEN'T LISTENED TO THIS YET, PLEASE DO--AM I NUTS OR DOES THIS SOUND COMPLETELY DIFFERENT FROM LIVESTREAM?) I am embarrassed--after hanging around here so long, I still don't understand how the SAME performance can sound so different depending upon.....WHAT? WTH ARE THE VARIABLES? On Livestream, he had distinct vibrato--like Cassie talked about--and then I listened to the fan vid (#4) first thing this morning--and I wasn't even sure it was Adam it sounded so different to me! So--is it just live feed vs. HD speakers on a TV vs. 360p vid vs. 360p fan vid that has been tweaked (?) Can anyone understand what I am asking? BTW, THEY ALL SOUND AMAZING TO ME! IT JUST BUGS ME THAT I DON'T UNDERSTAND TECHNICALLY HOW SOUND WORKS! Thanks to anyone who can help! I'll check tonight to see if anyone knows what I mean. |

No, they played it in their set while touring with Paul Rodgers singing. I am only on P.8 and I hate to post when I'm so behind--but frankly guys, RL may keep me from ever getting through an entire thread again--especially if Adam keeps doing EPIC stuff! SO, with that disclaimer, I was so curious about this Rodgers live version of TSMGO, that I had to look it up. I confess I know little about PR-srsly I am not knocking him one bit (to each his own)--BUT WOW I CAN SEE WHY QUEEN WANTED ADAM TO SING! :D Listened to it, um, ah...no thank you. Some more thoughts about last night's performance that I've just watched for the zilionth time:
Don't know if you've noticed, but the original Queen members - Brian and Roger - were definitely highlighted, both through the clothes and the production cuts. B & R were the only ones wearing white, while the non-original members, including Adam, all were in all-black. I thought it was another great way for Adam to really put the spotlight on Queen.
Also, in the production, we could rarely see Adam's face - focus was on Roger and Brian - or Adam when he was interacting with Brian. Lots of ensemble shots, few shots of Adam by himself, although of course he is the lead singer so hard to avoid.
And finally, the way Adam interacted so deferentially, always letting Brian have the spotlight, was amazing. He touted such a fine line, and he did it so brilliantly, with an innate sense of reading the situation. Such high EQ.
