At this weekend’s MTV Europe Music Awards, Adam Lambert wow-ed fans as he performed live on stage with legendary rock band Queen. In a noisy, epic performance, Lambert belted out numbers like a pro, owning the material in a way that made him seem much more than your run-of-the-mill Freddie Mercury impersonator. Sporting his trademark vertiginous hair and a Matrix-style leather coat, Lambert fronted the legendary band with contemporary style, hitting big notes with soaring force. We feel it’s safe to say that this is probably another high point in Lambert’s career and definitely a favorite moment for his fans, but do Queen’s die hard contingent of supporters feel the same way?
Despite his ripping performance at the EMAs, unfortunately, it’s not all coming up daisies for the ex-Idol contestant as this week; he’s been stung with a pretty hefty lawsuit. The star has been shot with a subpoena by a company called Colwel Platinum Entertainment who claim they had an agreement with Lambert at the time of his appearance on American Idol, and that his appearance on the show was in direct violation of said agreement. We’ll see how this one pans out, but if we know Glambert, he’s not going to let a little thing like a lawsuit stand in the way of getting his (currently delayed) first single completed!

On 11.8.11, B4M was sent to US Radio. No one noticed. (Well, except one guy in Iowa.) I doubt any radio station will play it, but if they do, here is my recommendation:
1. If the radio station personnel falsely ID it as Adam’s new single, POLITELY call the station or email the station the correct info.
2. POLITELY inform the station that the song is NOT an authorized Adam Lambert release, is not from RCA, and was recorded 4 years ago.
3. Do not contact a station more than once.
4. Be nice.
5. Request a real Adam song.
RCA has one of the best radio field teams in the business and they will clean up any issues – FAST!

Yesterday, Adam tweeted a message to fans - his lead single will not be released in November. Most fans were sanguine about the situation. Some Adam fans (including me) are relieved that he will not be releasing his lead single headed into the holidays.
Information from the London promo tour indicates that the single will be out in January with the album in early Spring (March/April 2012). And that there are three tracks being considered for the lead single.
In related news, we learned that Adam has 16 potential tracks for 12 album track. Can I place me order for the deluxe album now?

To say that last night was the night of nights to be an Adam Lambert fan is the understatement of the century. Stepping out of the role of “Adam Lambert” and into the role of pure and nameless rock singer, Adam delivered perhaps the most individual, multi-faceted, and emotionally affecting performance of his career.
At first when the band was introduced simply as “Queen,” I gasped. How would anyone know who Adam was? Then, I saw him, standing in the shadows, and I realized – this performance was all about music. Brian May and Roger Taylor were licking their chops like cats about to devour a canary. Not for these survivors a traditional tribute, in which stars unworthy to stand in the shadow of the greats shuffle on and off the stage to sing a line or two of bygone hits, while the honorees applaud from their wheelchairs. Not for these graying legends a tribute of any kind, but a performance to remember, and on their own terms.
As their lead singer, a young American, standing tall in the shadows. The first song: The Show Must Go On. What a statement! Brian May wrote this song in 1991 as a tribute to Freddie Mercury and his ferocious battle against AIDS. Freddie recorded it and it was released just six weeks before his death. By choosing this song, Queen made the statement: we are not painted icons on the wall, and rock and roll is not a dead language to be worried over by lonely monks. The music is not about one individual. The music is the warm beating heart of rock and roll, needing to be heard, needing to be sung!
As Adam strutted into the spotlight, his voice soaring and growling, both angelic and raw, I realized it was probably the last night of our lives that anyone will ever see Adam and ask the question, “Who is THAT?!” As the band moved into the iconic We Will Rock You, did you notice how the heads of the crowd turned as one to follow Adam? Then Queen’s signature tune – one of the most famous and popular songs ever written: We are the Champions. These two songs, so familiar as staples of stadium rock for decades, came to new life last night. Adam breathed his own understanding into the interpretation, combining sex with overwhelming feelings of emotion and compassion.
What was truly stirring was the way Adam and Queen reached out to the hunger of their respective fans while pulling in the larger mainstream with a performance that transcended the moment. Not only did Adam possess the vocals and rock star charisma necessary for Queen to knock our socks off one more time … he brought to the stage his own intangibles, his own mystery and charm and deep-rooted sensitivity.
Queen achieved the status of rock and roll icons with grand sonic experimentation, vocal harmonies, and, especially, an emphasis on epic live performance that at its best had the capacity to move the heart, to astonish, and to truly matter. Last night the band -- the veterans and Adam -- told one of the grandest of all human stories: the passing of the torch. Out of heart-wrenching loss and the ravages of time, a renewed sense of life and the beginning of a grand new adventure. Are you ready for the glory and magic to begin again?

Adam Lambert was selected for this year’s OUT100 list, spotlighting the year’s most influential gay, lesbian and transfender men and women. Lambert was interviewed by Out editor-in-chief, Aaron Hicklin, who has spoken out in the past about the American Idol alum’s position in the LGBT community.
Lambert, shot for the mag by famed photog Gavin Bond, said of being a gay icon, “I think the hardest thing about being a gay celebrity is that we’re in the middle of a social rights movement and it’s a very hot topic, so we’re at a very pivotal time.”
