No, it's not the same shirt as with the London fans, and it's not the same shirt he was wearing in NY (with the leopard pants). We need the Mistress of Adam's Closet for this one. LOL the pic is too blurry but I think this is the jacket and the t-shirt. ETA Also exact same rings. This is the day. Hah, so it's from the Little Door date on October 26, 2011. Well, it's kind of recent, just not last week. Hehe.

OK, so this majors and minors behind the scenes clip got me thinking about why I continue to love GNAFL. Hint: it's all about family...
Get this: he's a lot like my husband - generous with his advice, deliberate in his networking, and very aware of building, rather than burning, bridges. My hubby is somewhat of a "name" in the video game world, and continues to create buzz with his new game design company (he has new games out on facebook, google+, and the andriod marketplace). In just 5 years, he's become very highly respected for his knowledge, strategic thinking, and eye for quality. Adam is really the same way, while also being this other-worldly figure with an exciting and free spirit and a fascinating, evolving artistic vision. That's why I still love him (both of 'em, he he).
I found Adam first as part of a cultural moment - through a blog on gay issues that I've been watching since the gay marriage debates heated up about 7 years ago (my half-sister has two moms - my dad was the sperm donor, and we maintain a family relationship, which explains my personal interest, which then became academic). I was absolutely delighted to see someone who I could tell was definitely gay be both a mystery and totally unapologetically who he was on network TV.
I stayed a fan because of that crazy voice - my family are musicians and my brother also has an other-worldly, though wildly different, voice (and just released his first album!). It fits for me.
And now, I feel like I keep being validated that he's just the best guy to bert, given who he continually shows himself to be. :-)

When Adam says he has made the mistake of singing past the music on live television, do you think he is referring to the AI WWFM performance? I actually think he was just trying to make a point to the kids. Or he was talking about sound check or a rehearsal. Since all the TV shows have a rehearsal, I doubt he has ever done it during the actual show. I can't recall ever seeing him do that. ETA: I do not think that ending, during the WWFM Idol, was a mistake. No way! It is just Adam doing a unique ending. It totally goes with the acapella intro. Perfect! Mistake? Who said anything about a mistake. Not the word I would use, more a stroke of genius in a given situation. No way that would be a mistake. It is normal to improvise for Adam and everyone wants to hear that. If at the end his improv work things do not align up right, the performer needs to do something to bring the song to a proper conclusion and when you are working with a backing track, the only person that can adjust is the performer, so all the work lies with him. And when your band is instructed to do things one way, then that does not make it much different either, the performer still needs to handle that on his own, especially if pre-recorded electronics are involved. A master like Adam knows what to do. That's not a mistake, that's skill and lots of it, both in the acting department as well as the singing department, as well as in matters of thinking on your feet, as well as possessing basic chutzpah. Adam's got it all in spades. Paint by numbers is for the rest of us, Adam goes over the lines left and right and yet produces a master piece. Not in a million years would I call that a mistake.
