This still confuses me. What is the point of putting your shows online if you're not hoping to draw a larger audience? What is the point of tweeting out to the masses if you don't want to broaden your audience? What media outlets DON'T want to broaden their audience? And like really? They don't know that people rarely change their cell phone numbers now, despite moving across country? I know MANY people whose cellphone number do not reflect where they currently live. Also, I didn't go back and read the @replies of Iowa Radio Guy, but I never saw any "twitter bombing" on my feed and it's been proven on more than a few occasions that people get all victim-y and act like they're attacked by Adam fans and when you go read their @replies there are a smattering of rude tweets; the rest are usually quite sane with their explanations about setting the record straight. And most people I know have their geolocation turned off on their phone and on Twitter; if they are IP tracking, that seems like a LOT of trouble to go through, especially when they are asking for requests or call-ins, they always say "caller 104" or whatever and that happens in a couple of minutes. So they are attempting to geo-locate 100s of calls in a minute? I do not think the station would care if people were actually listening to the station but they were not. Last album, some Adam fans hurt Adam by requesting his music from stations they do not listen to. It was bad enough that Adam had to tweet about it on more than one occasion. My post was inspired by the fact that a station in Toronto got pounded by Tweets and phone calls yesterday because they played BFM. These calls happened immediately after someone Tweeted about it with the phone number. The calls were not from people who were actually listening to the show -- they were Adam fans who saw the Tweet. This is not new. A couple of famous examples: Last album cycle fans called OHP and requested WWFM. They were not listening to the show, they were out of the area, they got caught lying and Adam's music was banned from OHP for a critical period of time. WSTW Wilmington DE put up a countdown poll. The polls was spammed by Adam fans pushed there from online fansites -- most notable AO.com. None of these people were listening online, they were voting in an online poll. WWFM was pulled from the WSTW countdown. WSTWs PD and GM were very clear about why they pulled the song. If a fan is really listening to a station online or broadcast, that is different. Stations want requests from their listeners; but the original comment was not about listeners -- it was about fans who were not listening to the station. REGARDING TRACKING THE SOURCE OF CALLS. And it is a simple report to find out were requests come from: Online location can be tracked by IP address. Tweets carry a geolocation based on IP address. Most stations have this info. Regarding phone requests -- most track phone call origin. There are many systems for doing it, even if you use a spoofing service. A large station in LA just codes the calls local and out of area. And you can't really block a cell phone location even by spoofing because the first cell tower you connect to is knows.

Birdieeve-great post! Meanwhile, I'm a bit worried that this whole Queen thing may have fianlly tipped me over the edge with my stanning. I might need help .......???? I've needed help for some time now. Yesterday was a good example. I had just gotten home from a vision exam with fully dilated pupils. I felt twitchy not being able to read Adam news so decided to try. The first thing I saw was the link to the fan video posted yesterday. I darkened the room, grabbed my sunglasses and watched it several times. Even in the highest resolution it was quite blurry with the dilation. I was so relieved this morning when it was still available. I watched it at least 10 times before even making my coffee in case it disappeared. But, it didn't start with Queen for me; I've been surprising myself with my compulsive stanning since "Mama".

I wonder if the fans will reign it in this time around or once again end up doing more harm then good....I am not holding my breath because time after time certain parts of the fandom are a little too....erm..... enthusiastic. I mean, if the PD's will ban for these reasons, does he ever truly have a chance with radio? LOL I mean....some Adam fans are almost as militant as Bieber fans and I NEVER hear him on the radio (but then again it could be the simple fact that he sucks donkey balls)... Everyone needs to sign a common sense and good behavior pledge for era 2...lol

I simply cannot stop watching Adam with Queen. Now I've gone to switching back and forth between that and Outlaws of Love...lol! I'm sooooo addicted and I don't even care!!! I'm a bit scared of what's going to happen when the new single comes out and then the album. But, I'll deal with that when the time comes. Who needs sleep, anyways??? 8-) Tomorrow, I'm going to do something I haven't done before. I'm going to my sons to watch the football game and I'm going to have him watch the Queen performance. I don't think he ever really listened to Adam before even though I gave my DIL the FYE CD for Christmas last year. He has made the comment that *its just not his kind of music* before. But, he did mention the other night that he did like Queen!! He lets me talk about Adam and doesn't say much, but still seems a little interested. So, I'm going to be brave and give it a go. This is my oldest son who was in the HS theatre group and has a wonderful voice, although he never sings anymore, much to my dismay. I think I'll throw in OOL too just to see what he has to say. He knows a bit about my stanning, but not to any extent...hahahaha!! He'd probably say I needed help. *shrugs* OT: About that football game. We play Penn State tomorrow. I'm a bit concerned about it after hearing all the local news today. Our athletic director and ex-coach, Tom Osborne has even recommended that fans that attend don't wear red or make it obvious they are Huskers?? I get the point, but it's kind of not fair either. Oh well, it's just a football game. Sorry to be OT. Just stuff on my mind. Oh, and my son came over the other night to rid my computer of 2 nasty virus's. I tried, but am a tech fail. I had completely lost my itunes!!!! OMG! But, it's back. Now I need to find an audio d/l of Adam & Queen so I can put it on my ipod. I have an ancient ipod, so no need for a video d/l. I'm kind of scared to even try it but if anyone has the best one, I'd appreciate it. Ugh! I rambled on again. : Yep, I talk a lot too...lol! :-[

Thanks for that perspective Agnelle, and may I just say that your actions made perfect sense to me!
It's something about last Sunday's events - some extraordinary confluence of long awaited vindication and dreams coming true that has me all verklempt.
I guess I'll deal...

I am very optimistic that Adam fans -- particularly the fans on AO.com will request within "the rules" this era.
We have had 2-1/2 years to learn a lot!

We must of have watching two different twitter accounts because I was watching the tweets to Z103.5 also yesterday when it was reported the song was played and I only saw informative tweets to them. I was concerned about this radio station because their sucks and over reacted last time when they said they had 5 to 6 of the same people repeatedly emailing them. Which they even said on twitter was obvious trolling, but they B*tched to RCA anyways about. I never saw any of that behaviour yesterday.

Virg 1877. I was at the Kradison concert. There were a number of Atopians - at the time PFers - who were there as well. It's hard to believe it was almost two years ago. It was so amazing. I was stunned for days afterward.
