Nica --- thanks for the service you provide. As an interpreter by profession I empathize with how difficult it can be interpreting distressing, disturbing content. It is called "vicarious trauma", and it is a very real problem. You've done enuf, girl. Relax and pour yourself a glass of you favorite beverage, and look at the pretty.
For me, I'm gonna look at the glass half full.
1. Adam's Russian and Eastern European fans fianlly got their concert! Got to see and hear him in person.
2. Two years out from American Idol, the cheesiest music reality show, Adam is playing at a major rock festival in Russia. Tho' we all believed Adam could be an international star, I, for one, never anticipated he would reach that far that fast, and in that kind of venue.
3. Even if Adam was a rampant heterosexual, people going to a hard rock festival, especially guys, are gonna freak out at all the girls going crazy with balloons and paper hearts. Girls screaming and standing in line for autographs. Just so NOT COOL to the rockers. So, okay, they don't get it. But, ADAM WAS THERE. And most were surprised at his singing. It is a start. It's not his demographic, but he more than held his own.
4. If the climate in Russia is so homophobic it is remarkable that Adam got a positive reception. No protests. No heckling. No insults at the concert. No fights. No arrests. He stood loud and proud on that stage and killed it. Baby steps, folks, baby steps. We have seen over the past two years what a cumulative effect they can have. I believe it was important for Adam to be there, especially on that day.
5. Fans around the world got another live Adam performance! Our addiction has been fed. And the photos are stunning!
Russia was a WIN for Adam and his fans. I am proud of him and proud of them.
