Some very good pro photos of Adam at this site (although Nica probably wants to not read the text) dpolevoy.livejournal.com/324874.htmlReadon, I agree, although I completely respect Nica and anyone else who chooses not to read negative stuff. As Adam would say #forcefieldsup! I also think that maybe there is a fair amount of rock snobs' pushback against pop musicians factoring in. Great photos I agree. Posting some.

Nice recap Cassie. I’ve decided that Adam is kind of like the Beatles. Girls go wild over him and the guys just don’t get it. The lead singer for Korn is out in the field watching Prodigy. Does he need security to keep from getting swarmed? Nope. Adam on the other hand has 6 security guys and a fence. In the raw footage it’s pretty funny that half of Adam’s footage is him signing and the one article is pretty miffed that instead of watching Zemfira (the star of the show) that half the audience is hanging out on the fence in front of Adam’s trailer screaming his name. I don’t know what the heck the radio station was thinking when they invited him for this but dang. Now another article said he was the darling of the radio charts or something. Do we have any numbers on that? Seems IIHY is the one that was the most popular there. Yeah, I also wonder about the size of the crowds watching him? All the articles basically said his fans loved him/he was well received. The livejournal with the photos I just posted, even though they seemed to be shaking their heads at a pop star being invited said: "Lambert's fans were no less than the fans Korn." Someone asked why he was invited, and someone answered: "Driven by those who are popular. Maxidrome showed that the fans had a little more than Korn and Prodigy put together. Although Flint said in his interview that it is not clear how Lambert got here, the apparent rock fest." They also said he was friendly, accessible to fans and good natured. That's why on the whole I don't see these articles as negative about Adam's performance at all, simply a product of the cultural background of the moment -- and misogyny about any type of gender-role blurring in appearance, but I acknowledge that I'm basing that on google translate so I could be totally wrong.

Just saw on MTV Russia News Block about Maxidrom. They too acknowledged that Adam has been well received, they didn't expect it nor they were expecting WLL. It would be very strange if Adam didn't got some porsion of salt from russian media. But you know in what Adam is exellent - to make people talk and pay attention. In this News Block they complitelly forget about Travis, about Zemfira only that there were sound problems. I mean it not the best coverage, but people get to know him.

The Russian media coverage has me totally confused. A lot of it seems contradictory. To pull out the positive - it seems he had many fans (as many as Korn I think?), he was friendly and accommodating and most were surprised at how good his performance was. So what was the down side? The young girls flailing? The eye makeup? Coming from Idol? If they had done their homework none of this was unexpected. They knew he came from Idol FHS. The sad part of all this is that the negative bits are being taken out by one specific site, embellished and spread around. I was really upset by some of the things I read yesterday. I had to leave for a picnic and didn't have time to post. Now I see that was a good thing. I'm calmer now. I can not get over these fabulous photos!! I've saved far more from this concert than any of the GNT concerts. Adam is so much more than a "pop star" as evidenced by these fierce photos!

Another random thought about Adam at the rock festival. Imagine you are a hard core rock fan. You hear that this "pretty boy" pop star from a reality TV show is going to appear. What do you think? 1. Not a real performer. Created by TV, with no cred, never paid his dues. 2. The guy wears make-up, is gay, girls fawn over him. Oh, lord it's gonna be another teeny-bopper fan fest. : : 3. What an insult to REAL rock fans. Sell-out by the promoters to get attention. This guy is everything I hate about pop music. Not gonna even listen. Then, Adam and band walk on stage. First impression? These guys look ... well, they look like rocker dudes. Huh? Then, they start to play and Adam starts to sing. Kinda sounds like rock. The guitarist does some decent shredding, and .. damn, this guy can SING. The fan girls screaming is still : but, this guy isn't half bad! Wait, what was that high, wailing note???? They are doing T-Rex? Really??? And they are rocking it! This guy has some pipes! He is from a reality TV show? No way! Don't know a lot of English, but this guy just said "fuck" onstage! And chugged a cup of vodka. Then did a wicked high improv wail. Dude!! They are playing Whole Lotta Love? That takes balls! Great guitar! This guy can FUCKIN' SING HIS FACE OFF. I'm still too cool to maybe buy this guy's pop record, but, props to him. He can rock. Legit. Now, let's get a beer. ____________________________________ If that is the reception he got at a rock festival, I think that is nothing short of fantastic.
