I hope this was not yet posted, at least I did not see it over on the concert thread, but it was posted already on 11/7/11, so it could have shown up somewhere here. I recall a similar one, but not this magazine. Hope, I'm right. Given that this article is so positive, let's give it some hits. www.impre.com/la-gente-dice/viewArticle.action?articleId=281474978897624

Well hello here....I saw I caused some possible grievances here earlier, or better somebody else did using a little discussion I was part of. geez....well I am sorry, if I caused anybody any worries. But I have to say, if that is all she - the nutcase - could find after extensive searching up and down our daily threads, we must be doing something right here. Should be ok to have a little discussion occasionally and I appreciate that the resulting feedback here was mostly along those lines. Promise I will stay on the sunny side tonight...feel that way anyhow. I still keep listening to this fantastic performance more times a day than I can possibly imagine and love the wonderful week we have been having here, starting with our ramp up party on Saturday and all the way through today. Here is a sweet little exchange that I found under one of the Freddie Mercury youtube videos posted of TSMGO. The top text is one that I have read under quite a few videos, so somebody must be spreading it around, but I loved the response: "Dear God, Please take Justin Bieber or Lady Gaga and give us Freddy back. I know that Gaga and Bieber wasnt your idea okay maybe a little but hey we do all crazy things when we are on crack so please remove this idiots of musicians and give us the good old back as a present for this mistake. Your Simon PS. If you cant take Freddy back say him I´m still honored to hear his music." Simondede 2 weeks ago Response: "@simondede Dear Simon, I'm sorry you'll have to keep Justin Bieber and Lady Gaga. Sorry also to inform you I will have to keep Freddie here in my everlasting care, but I give you Adam Lambert to honor Freddie's legacy in the most respectful manner. If you haven't yet checked him out, please give him a chance. He joined the remaining QUEEN members in Belfast Ireland as they accepted a MTVEMA Global Icon award. Thanks, God p.s. I'll pass on message to Freddie of your continual love and devotion" -posted yesterday By the way, no fan wars on most of the Freddie youtubes, even when the EMA performance is being mentioned and discussed. Quite peaceful there....those persistent Queen fans, who need to point out 10 gazillion times that Freddie is irreplaceable, must be listening to the Adam youtube videos and somehow getting stuck there. I would think that based on their comments they would prefer to listen to Freddie? Makes you wonder, doesn't it? Have they already been Adamized? Here is the Freddie video where I found the quotes above. There are some German comments below too, they are all positive, talk about that the torch was handed on 11/6, for example. Been listening to the mtv video to help it get views too, I think it is working. Nowhere is there so much discussion as on AL videos. People need to talk about their Adam Lambert experience, just like us here. Cheers Beautiful montage of Freddy's performances. Love the warmth and tone of his voice. In comparison Adams power and fullness just tears through me. Love them both!

Linda--She has to be unobtrusive and pliant because she is everywhere on everyone's songs as well as her own. If she was more in your face people would be like GOOO AWAAAAAAY. Lol. I had never thought about her that way before I read that article, but you are right. I caught myself the other day hearing a song (it is probably relevant that I don't remember which one. Lol.) and trying to decide if it was her. I just couldn't tell and the DJ didn't give it away. So there you go. First of all, Linda, I'm guffawing like a horse at the "Texas brainfart disease" bit...ah, one for the ages... But back to Rihanna, I was really interested to read the article you posted. I could mostly see what he was saying (and therefor also what you and chunky are saying), but it felt funny reading it because I've always rather liked Rihanna from an ignorant distance. My mild interest in her preceded even my Adam-inspired plunge into "top-40" pop--I caught the umbrella video once on MTV tres while channel surfing and found myself hooked. I've liked a number of her singles since, and continue to perk up my attention when she sows up on tv or in the paper. I'm trying to figure out why. I think part of what I like is that, contrary to what the slate guy argues, there is a kind of ethnic specificity to her that's lacking from a lot of pop music. I actually easily recognize her voice even on songs I don't know because of the accent (and also because of a certain quality to her voice that I describe to myself as "metallic" but others might hear as thin and shrill--I find it somehow appealing). There's also something about her presentation--and I've said this here before--that actually reminds me of Adam. She's slightly androgynous, and at the same time aggressively forward in her presentation of her sexuality. In this rather prudish society, I find that a ballsy relief. And while she may fade artistically behind her songs, from a casual distance she strikes me as having a sharply defined image, that's v. Different from Britney, or gaga, or beyonce, or perry. To me she's the "bad girl" who isn't trying to be bad, or naughty. Her "badness" is skin rather than clothing--she was, forgive me, born that way. ymmv, natch. But I suspect that whole impression is a combination of several factors. 1) I see, reading the slate piece, that I simply tune out what doesn't interest me, leaving my impression of Rihanna to be formed entirely by songs I like, like rude boy, umbrella, and that recent weekend song. 2) I have clearly underestimated the power of the industry to create a coherent product; much of what I like is clearly the result of driven, intelligent machine--production. Lots to think about. I find the mainstream pop world endlessly fascinating!
