From Mika
Hey guys, this is likely my penultimate posting here, so please excuse the extreme length. (To fulfill an agreement to get a charity:water donation, I promised to post something on another band but later for that.)
Today - I'd like to salute the official end of The White Stripes and the brilliance of Jack White (and often overlooked Meg White.) They expanded my horizons in many ways - not least was what a band actually is and what a guy, a girl, a guitar and a drumset can do:) They hadn't performed together in sometime as Jack moved on to other bands (Dead Weather and the Raconteurs/many, many collabs and generally becoming a huge creative and business force in music (check out Third Man Records), but the official announcement of the end of the band came out this week. So farewell to The White Stripes - though I'll be there for the reunion tour if Meg agrees:)
The wiki entry on Jack - it's fascinating if you love music across genres as Jack does:
en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jack_White_(musician)
Jack doesn't have a 'pretty' voice and the music is heavily guitar driven so... it might get loud:)
Jolene (Cover) - The White Stripes (personal favorite but I like Dolly's version too)
www.youtube.com/watch?v=ePnoUv7qSCA
Trailer for 'Under Great Northern Lights' tour doc.[b/] I was going to post a vid of 'Seven Nation Army' but couldn't decide which one. Decided this trailer gives taste of the song and TWS.

Finally not The White Stripes - Jack White and Loretta Lynn - Portland (cause it always makes me smile and great use of sloe gin fizz)
www.youtube.com/watch?v=VuC_l3ymXhM
Okay I admit I'm just indulgent now but interesting words of wisdom about creativity, restriction, technology and bench kicking (God, I love artists who love and think about their art this much - whatever it is.)
