New Leonard Cohen album, Old Ideas, drops today. It's getting amazing reviews. Here's one I really like. Crazy to Love You (critics say it ranks with classics like Hallelujah and Bird on a Wire) Going Home The New Yorker posted the lyrics to Going Home recently as a poem. www.newyorker.com/fiction/poetry/2012/01/23/120123po_poem_cohenLullaby The critic in my paper's final assessment of the album: Stunningly simple, incredibly deep and destined to be a classic.

I've been away from this thread for too long.I'm starting to re-read it. Alison I've also become obsessed with The Book of Mormon I saw it last time I was in NY and it's brilliant. It took me 6 months to get tickets . I wanted to recommend an Israeli band that I love. They have a pop-electronic but with a heart. They're called The Young Professionals. The band consists of two members and they released their debut album a few months ago titled 09:00 To 17:00, 17:00 To Whenever. Their website: www.typband.com/Here are some of their songs: And here's a brilliant cover they did to Lana Del Rey's Video Games:

This is a political song about the riots in the UK last year. It's full of contradictions (which reflects the fact that no-one can agree why the riots happened) and the video is extraordinary.
(This is on Radio 1's A playlist)

The new Sam Sparro album is really good, can't wait to hear it in CD quality on a good sound system. If you liked Shady and Voodoo I'd give it a try Nothing really Broken English-y though.

well i have this nasty unpopular opinion that ,the voice ,is so wasted with pop music ,so i will slide off behind the rock where the critters used to live, before the rocks bounce off my head

oh hi this is my first post on Adamtopia! of course it's gonna be in the music recommendations-thread lol, i think i'll be living in this thread from now on. alright. my first recommendations is a 'musical project' called Steam Powered Giraffe. i found them only a couple of days ago and now i'm obsessed. and this is not the kind of music i usually listen to. this is what their website says about them: "Steampunk and Futurism mesh together with mime and music to create a breathtakingly imaginative act. [...] The act combines the visual of robot pantomime with sketches, pop culture references, improvised comedic dialogue, and of course, original music. From their heartwarming nostalgic melodies to their funky cabaret rock, Steam Powered Giraffe's songs are memorable, infectious, and as unique as the robots themselves." listen to these songs. thank me later.
