JustKaren" Saw on your map that queenrosered is listed in Rosarita, Mexico? No flag there, I didn't know we had anyone from Mexico?

But-but-some people like "drippy fluff" and "wallowing in angst" and "cheese" sometimes. It doesn't seem right to me to put down these artists and their listeners. At times the mood hits for exactly that - a song that I can cry too and suffer to and angst with. It's great for emotional release. There is a market for angst and wallowing and I would never say "blech" to this music. Millions of people buy this "blech" music. I hope Adam does do some so-called "drippy wallowy angst" and I am far from a "teenaged melodramatic cliche" lover. I would rather call it souful and deep and stirring and emotionally moving. What's wrong with a good wallow anyway? 8-) I could probably think of ten wallowing in angst songs that have gotten me through some pretty hairy times. The original 1974 Dolly Parton I Will Always Love You, a wailing (literally guy screamed for days before recording to sound wretched enough) 1977 Eric Carmen Boats Against The Current, half of Meat Loaf and Queen's catalog... I love waily angsty drama epic saga songs. I'm dying here just listening to them again.

To whom it may concern: For all future purposes, please refer to any relevant LindaG23 post for my opinions about Bruno Mars. Thank you. MWP. but Chunkey, just to be clear, speaking only for my self, if Adam wrote that drippy piece of fluff I would still find it a drippy piece of fluff. I can say that with 100% confidence because there has been occasional drippy fluff that has emerged from those beautiful lips over the years, and transcendent as it may sound in that voice, my cynical ass has never been able to enjoy it. But I might be more likely to bite my tongue about it here because what's the point of spoiling everyone's fun! I do think, however, that there is a certain kind of hetero-normative teenaged melodramatic cliche that we just won't see from Adam (any more than he would write Taylor Swiftian music, and I happen to think she's very good at what she does). I'm sure he's perfectly capable of wallowing in angst and piling on the cheese (hmm, is it disturbing that the thought of wallowy angst piled high with cheese is making me hungry?) but we'll never get that suffering-guy-worships/protects/comforts-possibly-hard-hearted-perfectly-beautiful-girl schtick from him (blech!) and for that I am eternally grateful!!! But-but-some people like "drippy fluff" and "wallowing in angst" and "cheese" sometimes. It doesn't seem right to me to put down these artists and their listeners. At times the mood hits for exactly that - a song that I can cry too and suffer to and angst with. There is a market for angst and wallowing and I would never say "blech" to this music. Millions of people buy this "blech" music. I hope Adam does do some drippy wallowy angst and I am far from a "teenaged melodramatic cliche" lover. I would rather call it souful and deep and stirring and emotionally moving. What's wrong with a good wallow anyway? 8-) I'm truly sorry if it came across as my putting people down--that wasn't intended. If anything, I meant to put myself down a little bit ("cynical ass") for being too snooty and, i dunno, sardonic or something to enjoy a sincere take on love. As I said in my post, I was speaking only for myself, and that "blech" was meant to express my opinion and not to put down anybody else's. (By the way, like Linda, I like a lot of Mars songwriting, and the fact that he writes more complex songs, or funnier songs, elsewhere makes me suspect that his own radio singles are more calculated to sell than something that really represents his world view or level of sophistication.) I also tried to make clear that there is a difference in my mind between wallowy angst (which isn't at all to my taste but which I can totally see the appeal of) and the teenage-romance cliches that Mars frequently trades in. Partly what bothers me about those is that they tend to cash in on certain sexual stereotypes (e.g. that girls/women want to be protected/told they're perfectly beautiful/worshipped, or, alternately, that they're hard-hearted man-eaters/heartbreakers) that offend my sense of self. And for various reasons, only some of which have to do with his sexuality, I can't imagine Adam's ever being guilty of that. But all of that analysis is just my own opinion, and I don't think women who love Bruno Mars' drippier songs are somehow unenlightened or something--they just happen to have a taste in songs (or in wooing?) that I don't share or understand at all. That's okay. We don't have to agree to get along! (And when I use words like "drippier" I'm just teasingly expressing my opinion again; and that's okay, Mars is doing pretty well for himself, he can take it!) Also, and this is neither here nor there but I want to make it clear, I spend my days surrounded by a fair amount of culture-snobbiness (in people I love and admire, and I don't really hold it against them), but one of the traits that tends to really win me over in someone is if they're smart and intellectually sophisticated and all the rest of it and also happen to really love some low-brow mainstream pop-culture figure or show or something, and are completely unapologetic for falling for something that's totally accessible and enjoyable. So more power to the Bruno fans--I've got no problem with them!

Queenrosered is there ... but you have to zoom in to see that she is very close to the USA/Mexico border. Whenever I know the city of a member I put the flag on their actual city; if I only know the country, the flag just goes in the middle of the country.

I also noticed that iceish (Toronto) was not on the map, and I moved lanat from Bermuda to Connecticut. You can put me under Toronto Canada, this is the place I spent and will be for the rest of my life. Have to say to fellow Canadians, I love Canada. Just to clarify, I was born in HongKong and live there until late teen. I am so glad I and my kids have a permanent place to call "Home".

It Will Rain may not be Bruno Mars' best work, but in context with the Twilight movies, it fits everything about them. I don't really like it, but we will probably hear it on the radio every hour on the hour after that movie is released tonight.

And about the "who would I do" question, I really like this YT which addresses the question. If it doesn't start at 4:21, skip to that part because it is quite funny. www.youtube.com/watch?v=baIZW4jlQw0#t=04m22sFor me, I would have to say Sandra Bullock because from what I can tell from her public persona she has a great sense of humor and the ridiculous; therefore much laughter would ensue and if we got around to sex, well at least it would be playful and she at least is good to look at.
