He'll be presenting an award at AMA's . www.hollywoodreporter.com/news/adam-lambert-american-music-awards-263878Two years after sparking a wave of controversy with a same-sex mid-performance kiss, the "American Idol" runner-up returns to the ABC show’s stage. Says producer Larry Klein: “Adam was never banned.”“Adam Lambert was never banned from the show,” says American Music Awards executive producer Larry Klein emphatically while eyeing a chair on the aisle of row two, audience left (see photo). That’s where the American Idol runner-up will be seated on Sunday night. Lambert will also be presenting an award, marking his first return to the ABC show where he sparked a wave of controversy. Read more... And it only took 2 years and Adam is ABC's sweatheart again.

Larry Klein was/is Exec Producer of the AMAs. He couldn't ban anyone from ABC. And ABC did not "ban" him, they just canceled his appearances.....in effect the same thing:
From November 2009:
“Given his controversial American Music Awards performance, we were concerned about airing a similar concert so early in the morning,” says an ABC spokeswoman.
And with that statement they canceled his GMA appearance.
Oddly, Larry Klein used the exact same Dick Clark quote about on stage vs. off stage behavior that is in the THR article in a 2009 interview.

Just wondering if anyone was able to find the OUT interview with better sound quality.Would love to hear the rest of what Mr. Lambert was saying. This is what is recycling through my head......."I have a boyfriend, his name is Sauli. He's my celebrity crush." GAWD. How effin' sweet is that!

JohnKearns John Kearns @adamlambert will feature the album -track per day on the show. #trespassing21 minutes ago ??? what show ??? when ??? He is a DJ at Citybeat 96.7 in London: citybeat.co.uk/presenter/john-kearns/John joined Citybeat 2 years ago, his shows are a must listen and he has, from the beginning, been a huge success with the Citybeat listeners. I am assuming he is going to play Adam's album when it is dropped. He is also the one that interviewed Adam and wrote up a great article about Adam. yfrog.com/nuqbowaj

Adam is a perceived PR draw; true or not sometimes it doesn't matter. His stage and especially private personas speak of current cultural and social issues. ABC would be foolish to burn bridges, imo. It really doesn't matter what they thought of Adam 2009. They, I believe, are more than curious about Adam 2012 and beyond.
No FYE rehashing this time around, I hope ...
ETA... Adam's 2009 AMA performance was an early catalyst for gay civil rights issues on many fronts, especially because of the large media coverage, imo. It brought to surface issues that some were previously reluctant to address vocally.. bringing the subconscious to the conscious so to speak. Adam will be remembered for that ...
