speaking of sisters and Queen: My sister is not into Adam at all, but always gracious in her comments when I push her into one .... re the Adam/Queen EMA's: It is a nice contrast, Freddy always in white and this performance so dark .... only the Queen members light and Adam in black. Makes her accept the "substitution" more. Sometimes I have to admit my sister is smart ... Good point!! [runs off to watch the vid again for the 10th time today...] |

Adam is the textbook definition of a control freak and there's no point in him denying it! ;D It's kind of interesting to think that for so much of his life, though, he had to follow someone else's rules as he was doing the musical theatre thing. Even those meanies at the Zodiac Show wouldn't give him his flaming headdress. And now he's finally able to let his control freak flag fly high, lol! |

my sister is a big Queen fan and a casual Adam fan. But she didn't like the performance. Not because she thinks Adam was bad but she thinks his voice didn't suited the songs. She also thinks that Freddie Mercurys personality, charisma and voice made Queen so special and that noone should sing this songs, because noone can match Freddie. As kind of a counter to this story - my oldest son has been kind of disapproving cool on the whole Adam thing. He's not into pop, a real classic rock purist. His daughter (my dgd) and wife have joined my stanning a little so he has heard FYE and it is not his cuppa. I played the Queen concert for him and low and behold, a whole new appreciation resulted. I saw him whisper something to my dh while he was watching and later found out that he said, "I really like the way he's not trying to imitate Freddie, but making it his own." One convert at a time.....and then, WORLD DOMINATION!  Heh! I forced my two nephews and my brother to watch the performance. BTW, they all watched, transfixed, on my iPad though they were surrounded by people. They didn't look away to glance at the TV (and for my brother who is a football junkie, that's major). 20 y-o nephew and Queen fan: Wow, that was really good! He did it very different than Freddie, but still really good. (Also later kind of admitted that he tried to find the performance on YT himself, but couldn't because so many were taken down.) 17-y-o nephew and not Queen fan :  (I know, I think he says that to be non-conformist) He and his best friend watched it and friend at first said, "Adam Lambert?" (rather sarcastically), but they watched the entire thing and brought my iPad back to me and said, "Wow, he's a real showman!" (This was one who claimed to be unimpressed with Idol vids he had seen two years ago.) Brother: Made some comments about Brian's '70s hair and didn't say much, but was glued to performance entire time. My sister, on the other hand, is on my list right now – scoffing at fandom and saying how "she doesn't get it at all," etc. (I think some of it is jealousy.) I bit my tongue before saying something I'd later regret, but I'm not going to hold back stanning to make them more comfortable anymore either. |
