1. I love that Adam has the guts to wear the latest fashions and usually he does it brilliantly. But I hate it when he misses which is only once in a blue moon.

2. I love Adam in hats! But I must admit that I am not a fan of the black “Amish hat” on Adam or that straw beach hat. Give me Adam in the brown cap.

3. I love a Adam in leather, as long as it is NOT a leather poncho!! Adam should never be allowed to hide in a poncho – even with swinging fringe.

4. I love Adam’s ability to constantly surprise and delight fans with his latest hairstyle, but shaving off the sides??!?!?! is a WTF moment for me. Thankfully his hair grows really fast!

5. I love that Adam hangs out at the beach, but those aqua board shorts should just be banned! I HATE THOSE AQUA BOARD SHORTS!! [Adam, please auction these for a good cause and I will buy them for a crazy amount of money so I can personally burn them!!!!]

6. I love Adam’s glitterier and glam looks, but the bedazzeled denim vest from the Idols Live! Tour was a big, big miss. It reminded me of something my mother-in-law from Delray Beach, Florida would make and wear.

7. I love how Adam can put together layers, but sometimes I would love to see him “layerless”!

8. I love Adam in Black. It’s my favorite color. What’s to hate. He looks great in black, or blue, or any color.

9. I love Adam in a long jacket. I love Adam in a short jacket. I love Adam is jackets. But sometimes I hate Adam in a jacket and want him to take it off!

10. I hate how Adam is always part of my life. I love how Adam is always part of my life. I guess I have a hate-love, love-hate relationship with Adam Lambert. And I can live with that.

Reflecting on a very strange year

Thanksgiving is a time of reflection -- a time to say thank you for all the good things in your life. Sometimes in the past, my life has been so good that I really did not feel very thankful. The past year has been a real roller coaster for me -- starting at the bottom ramping up slowly, then plummeting back down to the depths only to rise again. This year I know that I have a lot to be thankful for because I understand that it all may be temporary. So on Thanksgiving I made a promise to myself (and the universe) that I would never again take the good things in my life for granted.

I also had the opportunity to thank some close friends who helped me earlier this year. They came to my home for a special dinner last night. I love to cook and am particularly fond of dinner parties. My special dinner guests included two professionally trained chefs who are particularly fond of classic French cuisine and do not appreciate Italian regional cuisine. I wanted to convince them that Italian regional cuisine was on par with French cuisine.

I planned a meal that showcased 7 regional Italian cuisines paired with wines. They enjoyed the meal but I believe they left unconvinced.

Even though I failed at my main mission, I was very pleased with the menu and wanted to share it. Note: I enlisted the help of my son who is a trained sous chef and great dishwasher!


Sicily and Florence - The Antipasto:

Medjool dates filled with goat cheese
Apricots stuffed with pecans
Spiced almonds
Marinated mixed olives with lemon and herbs

Coccodrillo Ciabatta Bread with three spreads
- fresh yogurt-herb cheese
- red lentil spread
- artichoke and sundried tomato

A Neapolitan Sangria made with white wine with citrus fruit and green apples


Venice: Appetizer

Trio of Crostini: tomato-basil, ceci-lemon topping, and Crostini di Fegato (chicken liver)

New Zealand Sauvignon Blanc


Piedmont: Soup

Wild Mushroom soup
with Gorgonzola toasts and Lobster toasts

Napa Valley Vineyard Chardonnay


Lazio (Rome): Primo

Parmesan Polenta
with fresh tomato sauce and Eggplant relish

Tuscany: Secondo

Bracoli (rolled round steak filled with prosciutto, provolone, pine nuts and golden raisins)
braised in tomato red-wine sauce

Asparagus roasted in balsamic vinegar

Friuli-Venezia Giulia: The dolce

Buttery Apple Torte (a Northern Italian Apple cake -- mostly apples)
Baci (round sugar cookies filled with dark cocolate)
Bosc Pears poached in red wine
Oranges and blueberries

Moscato d’Asti and Port
