I'm not surprised about Tommy still being in the band. I get the impression Adam is a super loyal guy, and even tho I don't follow Tommy or really know anything about him or remotely think he is attractive or basically GIVE A FLYING FUCK about him, I guess he is a decent guy so I can't see Adam getting rid of him.
Plus he is always up for an onstage smooch if needed lol.
The only thing I don't like is how Tommy's presence invites the cray element but I'm sure you would get that with ANY young, relatively good looking band member so it's more of a fan issue really. However I have seen some tweets suggesting that fans have been known to PAY TOMMY'S RENT among other things (i.e. gifting him crap), and whether or not that is true...I don't know. But it weirds me out. But I did see a tweet today that said that any new members of his band should be prohibited from accepting gifts, money from fans or from playing concerts in fans living rooms. LOL. I could not agree more.

It would be smart for Tommy to do, but not sure Adam would make a stipilation like that. I mean Tommy has fans too.

Control freak? Perfectionist? Reasons for not winning Idol? Tweet about changes in the line up? Interesting confluence. My strange mind puts them together and extrapolates.
If Adam were just as he were, but straight, I do not believe he would have won Idol. We are talking about a huge high school popularity poll here. When you poll a vast number of people about any subject, the most popular answer is often the "ordinary" one. Favorite ice cream? It's gonna come out vanilla or chocolate. Not mint chocolate chip or coconut/mango/kiwi. Adam is not vanilla or chocolate. Not apple pie any more either. Just being who he is makes some people uncomfortable.
Then, add in the "control freak/perfectionist." He has an enormous talent and presence. He has worked at it and crafted it and perfected it. His standards for his own work are, consequently, very high. Think of the thing you are the very best at. When you do it or work on it, you probably have others bugging you about the time and care you are taking. "Just throw something together. That's good enough. No one will notice the difference." But, if it is the thing you are most passionate about, the thing you have worked the hardest for, you cannot imagine doing "ordinary" or "good enough" work. Like when I was in college and overworked, and a friend suggested I do an assignment just to earn a "C." I was puzzled. I didn't know HOW to do a "C" paper. No, not a perfectionist, by any means, but, totally puzzled by how to put out less than I was capable of.
Back to Idol. Adam naturally gave it his all, and stood out for it. Some folks are uncomfortable with excellence. Uncomfortable with the one who stands out and "elevates" himself above others. They want it to be fair and equal. They don't get what makes Adam so special.
Those who are devoted and passionate and skilled and extraordinary are often teased about being control freaks. Perfectionists. I think it is a way to "bring them down a notch," to discount what they are doing and frame it as a negative rather than a positive. The extraordinary ones do have opinions, based on their expertise. They assert them, as they should. And they do not want to be associated with something that does not measure up to their standards. To others viewing them, that can come off as nit-picky.
And Adam's tweet about changes in the line-up? He has high standards and very definite opinions about what he wants on the album and where he wants to go with it. He has very high standards for what is released with his name attached. If "someone" did not agree with his opinions, there was bound to be a parting of the ways over it. As much as possible, Adam wants to control how he addresses that parting. How he frames it. To me, that is not being a control freak. It is being smart. It is using his skills.
IMHO, YMMV.

I'm very conflicted about sharing this, but since this is where I spend hours every day, I'm going to. Last night I mentioned my granddaughter's friends seeing the Queen performance and being impressed. At 1 am, while I was still stanning, my son-in-law came in to say goodnight and make a joke about the kids and my campaigning for Adam. We laughed and went to bed. When my daughter woke up this morning, he had died of a brain aneurysm sometime between 5am and 7:30am. He was 11 yrs older than my daughter, one of my best friends (I knew him before my daughter did,) and the absolute nicest guy and best dad in the world. He leaves an 18yr old college freshman, a 15 yr old high school freshman, and a first grader, all of whom adored him.
I'm in my room trying to find anything to help me deal with the next 4 or 5 days. There will be no moving back to Myrtle Beach, need to be here to help everyone deal with life.
Bottom line, I guess, is live and enjoy your life while you can because we are not guaranteed tomorrow. You all help me enjoy that life every day and I thank you.

Life is precious. You just reminded us all.
