NoAngel I am really enjoying your essays on that objet de fascination, Adam.
On this occasion I'm gonna argue though that Adam is not the traditional control freak.
The word misses him entirely. even if he says himself he likes to "control things just a little bit". The fool! he misses his own allure.
Sure he steps onto the red carpet beautiful and perfectly turned out, but he rarely has the uptight look of a true controlfreak - who tends to look constipated and unreceptive to life. If there is one thing Adam is its receptive to everything around him, more so than most people. He has a glorious feminine side that thrives on the pulse of life and wants to sqeeeeze things and feel their juices. He's a hednoistic dionysus, more caos than control.
It probably takes him some effort to dress beautifully and get that hair into exactly the right geometry. But i think once he's done he the crafting he lets go and just allows the glow.
He takes risks, changes things often, whereas I think the usual control freak cant be that casual with what they obsess with. They hold on to it, and there's a static quality about them.
He's super generous with money and he's constantly getting expansive at parties and groping everyone in the name of love. The energy around him is generous and flowing and unpredictable. He's dynamic. Controlfreaks usually sacrifice dynamism.
He's mystical and spooky and you cant be controlfreak in that realm otherwise you'll get spanked by the great divine.
He's also very much into collaobration with people and giving them credit for it and bouncing energy off people. control freaks want to do it their way.
and he likes to let go in his performances to achieve those greater heights of expression. A controlfreak can be technically perfect but not let go.
So I say Adam Lambert likes Mastery and he likes Surrender.
As usual he combines the paradox along every axis.
Rather than control freak this man has the air of royalty about him - demanding, aesthetic, masterful, potentially haughty if it werent for the panda bear love that he emanates.
Of course, you might wanna call him a control freak to provoke him.
He would just take the occasion to spank you delightfully
I hope.
Ofcourse he's not perfect, I imagine he gets genuinely haughty, selfrighteous (Neil will tell you), bossy and high strung at times.
But I just wanna focus on his greatness and gush. Once an hour at least.
