'Break The Spell' Goes Gold!

Congrats to Daughtry as Break The Spell has just been certified a gold album by the RIAA! Cheers to all the loyal fans who bought the album and spread the word.

I know certification is on albums shipped but shouldn't the sales, at least be close to 500K?? So far, if we count this week's projections, the total is just over 240K! ???

I know. I wish they would wait until they got a little closer to 500K. However, I expect that few fans understand what that actually means. They just see gold!

From Billboard:

Overall album sales in this past chart week (ending Dec. 18) totaled 11.20 million units, up 15% compared to the sum last week (9.77
million) and down 10% compared to the comparable sales week of 2010
(12.49 million). Year to date album sales stand at 307.75 million,
up 1% compared to the same total at this point last year (303.93
million).

Digital track sales this past week totaled 22.48 million downloads, up 4% compared to last week (21.69 million) and up 6% stacked next to the comparable week of 2010 (21.18 million). Year to date track sales are at 1.19 billion, up 9% compared to the same total at this point last year (1.09 billion).
