Max Martin is more of a producer than a songwriter. Many producers and artists get songwriting credits for song they did not write so they can share in the royalties. Elvis Presley was one of the first major artists to get songwriting credit for songs he did not write or had a very small role in writing.
Production is such an essential part of pop song composition that it is impossible to draw a line anymore.

Lots of Max Martin songs involve Dr. Luke -- Lukasz Gottwald -- the did the big Kelly Clarkson hits in 2004. I expect to see Dr. Luke back on Adam 2 since the two producers Adam mentions specifically are Max and Dr. Luke.
