OT but these guys have interesting view on what catapults pop celebs from stardom to superstardom (starting ~6:40). It's just a fun watch so I thought I'd bring it over. www.youtube.com/watch?v=DrNH9x471_k

I couldn't enter into last night's discussion of Adam's makeup, changing style, etc. I think he is like the rest of us. He is getting older. He wants to look good. He has some "looks" issues like we all do. Women are "allowed" to wear makeup all of kinds for their whole lives to enhance their looks. And male actors and male celebrities, gay or straight, do the same for public events. Also, his natural good looks as well as his clothes and hair and makeup are part of his public persona. We expect some risk-taking from him, some fashion hits and misses.
Adam has to grow into each of his life phases in his own way. We love his voice and his personality. How he chooses to present himself over the coming years will give his fans something to talk about, for good or ill. LOL He's a great guy, inside and out. I just want him to have a long, fulfilling career and a happy life. Clothes and hair styles come and go.

twitter.com/pattihum/status/1352995218883108865?s=21Anyone thinks the QAL tour will still happen this year? IDK what the vaccination picture in EU and the UK is currently but if it is even half the clusterf*** as it is here and given the new mutations on top - I am not optimistic. I am thinking they’ll reschedule for the “same dates” in 2022. I only pray and hope Brian and Roger stay healthy and able and willing to play in 2022.

I just want him to have a long, fulfilling career and a happy life. Clothes and hair styles come and go. Solid points! But I think the point some were making (me included) was the heavy makeup does not make him look good or enhance his looks. He is a gorgeous man and some of those looks actually age him and are not very flattering. He has grown to be included in some really heavy performances and events. He was not always invited when he presented himself as more of a "character" than an artist. For me there is a difference in a concert persona than trying to attract and interact with a wider audience on tv and interviews. Adam often keeps that in mind but I think he has been a bit off of late. There is no way he could expect not to get the Boy George comparison with that hat. I suspect that is what he was going for but why? Adam is swoon worthy. Boy George is not. I think some of us have been pleased at his gravitas and growth and the world was getting it. Many different types of opportunities were coming his way. They took him seriously. That was one of the things that turned me off about Gaga. She seemed to be unable to get out of "character" when she was not on stage. I would immediately tune her and the distractions out. She has changed for the better, imo. She meets the occasion now. She grew. Adam didn't have that problem. His interviews were interesting and his good looks made you want to hear more. He was not playing a character but he was all Adam.
Velvet was some serious work and most of Adam's presentations have shown that. Maybe not the videos but I rarely watch those. But Corden. GMA. youtube. A Home for the Holidays. And even the mini Velvet tour. A little heavy on the makeup but not OTT and distracting and he was on stage. The outfits were classy and sexy but not costumes. And I think it is a little too late in the game for some fans (not you) to claim his gayness is not being accepted by his fans. Adam is gay WITH or WITHOUT heavy makeup. And I think it is unfair to Adam to push the narrative that he is being inauthentic and unable to express himself without the heavy makeup and playing dress up. Or his fans are not accepting of him if they dislike some looks. I find that argument silly. I don't care for the heavy beard either. Nor the added long hair or shaved sides, lol. We like the looks we like but we love Adam. And only Adam can decide who is the real Adam. I personally think they all are. I just prefer some looks better than others. HA.

Adams make Up and the various perceptions and Interpretations never get old lol
Loved the point about ageism, that denying and fighting age is a Form of ageism too. For the record: Adam would be FAAAR from the only one struggling with getting older. Especially in a industry that is so very visual.
It irritates me when people claim that the "real Adam" is the one with make Up and basically only that one. That is Putting Adam in a Box as Well in a way.
Personally i'm also Not the biggest Fan of the heavy make Up. This has nothing to do with Adam, that is Just me. I don't Like 'caked-on Make-up" on anyone. And i mean anyone, regardless of age, gender, orientation etc. I guess i percieve it as a Kind of Mask.
Back to Adam: i don't think His Make-up "means" the same everyday. I'm Sure Sometimes it's Expression and fun and other times it's hiding/compensation.
To me it's all Adam Just as i'm always me in my differnt Outfits, with hat, without, in Sportswear, in a Cowgirl Look, in Work clothes, Casual Jeans and Tee, in pants, in skirts, in Dresses...all Just how i'm Feeling (and what the weather is like)
To sum things Up: we are living through a pandemic which in every possible way is a exceptional Situation. Everyone copes differntly and that's why people have quite a Bit of leaway in my book. I know Adam Changes it Up and and i will eventually Like a Look again. Also let's Not forget that Adam Loves to Experiment and He has admitted that Not everything worked out.
Did someone say Friends? I'd looove to read that Essay lol

I would say there is no way at all that the U.K. shows will go ahead. The U.K. is in dire trouble with the worst death rate in Europe. We now have changed schedules and have vaccine shortages and the younger tiers won’t have a first jab before August/September, if then. Unless Dr May perfects his arena-virus-extractor in the next few weeks, I will be hanging on to my tickets for another year. With fingers crossed...
