From Sauli's blog: Min & Zia, thank you! Like I’ve told in my blog’s front page, I plan to have some more content in my web page in the future and also provide an option to my readers to choose the language between Finnish and English. But as you all probably understand, running this page and writing the blog is a huge task and translations and improvements require more resources than I have at the moment. So I’m really glad someone is so kind and translates the text until I have a chance to have my page in two languages. Thank you so much for the help, for the interest and for the patience! This all makes me really humble, you all are amazing and it feels unbelievable! Is he thanking our Mia and Zinnia? WUT??!!!!!!!! OMG!!!!!!!!!!!!  |

I was wondering about that too!!  Wow! How does Sauli know that they do this? When I had lunch with Mia in LA, she told me that Katri knows they translate. They even got an e-mail from Katri. So, Mia was hopeful that Katri had told Sauli. I guess she did! :D |

I love that Sauli thanked Mia and Zia in English, so that they would not have to translate his appreciation. That is such a classy and sincere sign of appreciation. What a thoughtful guy.

OK, I just popped in for a break in my workday! Regarding the question on "hot linking". IMO it depends on what you are doing and what the purpose is. It was a real issue when storage was expensive, and people used hotlinks to avoid keeping large files on their own server. Now that storage is very inexpensive, the web ediquite rules have changed. IF it is a photo that is copyrighted and the copyright owner does not want the photo distributed on other sites, OR a site that wants traffic for ad views, then hotlinks are often preferred to copying photos. I have only read a few pages of the thread so I may be missing the question and issue entirely. What is frowned on is stealing content without credit. I am very pleased that ATop Members give credit and sources for what is posted here. I really try hard to do it on the Page 1 OP. But that is not universal. ETA: Mia and Zinnia!! WOW!! I am impressed y'all are famous! Maybe you can get to interview Sauli! I think we could come up with some really good questions for you to ask! I can even think of a few that do not involve Adam.  Thanks for the clarification Q3, it really helps. |
