OK, I just popped in for a break in my workday! Regarding the question on "hot linking". IMO it depends on what you are doing and what the purpose is. It was a real issue when storage was expensive, and people used hotlinks to avoid keeping large files on their own server. Now that storage is very inexpensive, the web ediquite rules have changed. IF it is a photo that is copyrighted and the copyright owner does not want the photo distributed on other sites, OR a site that wants traffic for ad views, then hotlinks are often preferred to copying photos. I have only read a few pages of the thread so I may be missing the question and issue entirely. What is frowned on is stealing content without credit. I am very pleased that ATop Members give credit and sources for what is posted here. I really try hard to do it on the Page 1 OP. But that is not universal. I still don't know what is hotlink after goole. I am gonna to delete all my picture links/source here. Totally confuse all this tech terms.  No reason to delete anything. The US has a principle of "fair use" the we fall into. You can post materials for discussion purposes. I am just catching up because I had a looooooooooooooong work day. But if anything needs to be deleted, I will let you know specifically about it, |

JMHO but Adam needs a strong lead guitarist. Tommy would be perfect on RG. Private note to Sauli -- Please tell Adam I'll pay an extra $2 -- no make that $5 or $10 -- to get a FINE lead guitarist. I am sure other fans would agree!! |

Interesting about that female bass player....sounds like a definite possibility. Tommy is a lead guitarist. He did bass only because Monte was already hired and Adam wanted Tommy in the band. Tommy's been buying some pretty guitars over the past few months. If Adam does hire him as lead guitar, then I would say Adam considers him good enough. We will know soon, I'm sure! |

So, I now realize that I've been hot linking like a mofo ever since the planet fierce days. I had no idea there were things like money and bandwidth involved--I know, I'm an embarrassment to my generation. As for credit, I was just nabbing pics off google images and figured anyone who wanted the source could right-click on the image or something and find it. Hmmm. I don't have a photo bucket account and definitely don't want one (that's one rabbit hole I've somehow avoided thus far) and besides, isn't that even weirder, like stealing rather than borrowing? I'm soooooo confused!!?!!!?!!  Kidding, I'm fine. I'll just be stingier on images from here on, and if I really need one I'll post the link at the bottom of the page. If that's not good enough then it would be great if someone let me know, cause clearly I'm clueless about this stuff, lol. |
