I watched the Grammys and enjoyed the show. I just find it really difficult to understand the rappers. And there was a lot of rap last night! Obviously, the lyrics are very important but either my ears or my brain are too old to comprehend them. So I just watch and marvel at the production.

That B is for Brandy person who tweeted about how Adam is not good enough for Queen and Queen should be Freddie only, is an example of some people's attitudes not only about the "purity" of the band Queen but also about the stigma that is still attached to those who have "made it" from being on a singing competition show (or "game show" according to B). That stigma is still out there even though being successful on a show like Idol or The Voice has less to do with how well you sing than it does about luck and timing and who the judges and the viewing audience like the most.
That video of Brandon Boulware speaking about his daughter was heart-wrenching. I wish millions of people would watch it. Unfortunately, people who cannot accept transgender people have minds that are rarely changed concerning this topic. It's all bound up in perceived morality and religion and societal conventions. This man knows better, and he isn't afraid to talk about it.

al Gorgeous! *** I finally posted today's OP -- what a wacky few days I've had. But the Grammy ratings are out and they are BAD -- much worse than expected. The Masked Singer has higher ratings than the Grammys. It is probably time to create some kind of new music awards show that actually makes sense and does not have awards for the best authentic folk song featuring a harmonica and 20 nominations for Beyoncé and Taylor Swift (a bit of exaggeration - but not much.) agree. Nothing against Beyonce or Taylor or Bieber but it is always the same ones when they release an album. Then when Adele and Bruno release it will be all Bruno and Adele again. Katy (many #1s and nominations but no wins) and Rihanna seemed to have fallen out of favor. Lizzo and Billie were all the rage and I suspect Billie will have staying power. Not sure why Selena, Demi, Ariana and Camilla have not had as much success at the Grammy's. They sure never lacked the radio support with everything they put out and the award show performances.

Wow! Is that Adam's new boyfriend? That's from their Mexico trip around November or so!

That's Oliver at the beach with Adam. Adam looked a lot slimmer when he did his two solo shows a while back. Maybe he's been working on it. He's beautiful to me, inside and out, regardless.
lurleene, I agree. There is no rhyme or reason to who gets the awards or radio play, etc. It's a crap shoot. Adam is definitely a niche artist. He is not on everyone's radar. But his fanbase is strong and loyal and more international than most. It gives him brpader support outside the US.
And I agree that Billie Eilish will likely have staying power. She has a very good voice, a good personality, an intelligent manner and bit of edginess. I like her. And there's that video out there of her praising Adam's Mad World. Just saw it this morning. The song was played and she wanted everyone to stop hear that glory note. Wish they'd do a duet.

But his fanbase is strong and loyal and more international than most. It gives him brpader support outside the US. HA! If Adam is a niche artist, I wish he would get his work noticed and submitted in one of the more niche categories cause pop is not a niche genre. And I think his fanbase is strong in the US and internationally. And before the pandemic, he had no problem getting booked on tv shows in the US to promote his work. I thought those opportunities would dry up once he went indie but was pleasantly surprised that was not the case. His tours in the US and abroad always outperformed his level of radio play. He got more radio play internationally but that has pretty much died down as well once he left the majors. But no one is on everyone's radar but I think Adam has done pretty darn well staying in the public eye. A lot of people (including industry people and media) know who he is and they call him a star and success story. It is just that award show performances and nominations are mostly for the chart toppers.
