I liked the BTW video. The version on Vevo on my iphone even, is gorgeous (you know aside from that birth thing). Bad Romance was better though. Once I got over the fact that the song was a reworked Express Yourself it became catchy.
And that Stephanie has quite an awesome body. No wonder she's always mostly naked!!

I guess I need someone to explain it to me ... I don't even SEE a point to this video. Was she so agressive that she burried it? I saw gross stuff and lots of naked Gaga - how is that taking a risk? She is naked in all her videos? As I said in my first post, maybe I'm being totally obtuse, but I just don't see any deep meaning and certainly not the meaning I thought the song was about. The Scifi special effects were cool. I kept expecting it to become a campy, making fun type of thing and it never did. Pretentious is a very good word. I'll agree with PJd - THe one message I didn't get acroos wi her vid was or at least I think she was insinuating w/the title of her sign. that there are many variations of life..All I got from her vid was her dancing in her bikini. I think she could have put more emphasis on different types of men/women I thought it had great special effects almost like seeing a movie rather than a short vid. It would not be a vid that I would put on repeat just to watch AND YES to those, I want Adam's next vid to be in his bikini rubbing his crotch. I'm sure if he did that, there would be an uproar. Acutally NOT I truly don't want him to do a Gaga. TO me it should be about the music and her bod Read more: atop.proboards.com/index.cgi?board=daily&action=display&thread=60&page=8#ixzz1FHDZlxfi

PRETENTIOUS If I didn't care for Gaga before now I really don't like her. Good visuals ,but IMO she needs to get over herself.. Just seems pedantic with visuals.I'm I being too harsh? Actually the video made about Adam last year,by a fan, that talks about his coming from outer space, seems more relevant and more exciting. I do think this video will appeal to her young' Little Monsters'.. This is all familiar to me.. from psychedelic music eras. The song ripped off Madonna. The beginning concept of the video ripped Skylar's fan vid. The dancing in the tux is another Madonna rip, Oh but she added skull faces. Now where have I seen that before. Most of the video is just dancing bikini Gaga. The song is not a manifesto, and the video concept is nowhere near as visionary as her earlier works. Maybe it will grow on me.

I do however agree with all the pretentious comments. Really that has become Gaga in a nutshell. And yes this song is the height of that.

My issue is that I truly don't believe that Gaga's videos were ever VISIONARY. Fun to look at spectacles? Yeah. But visionary? Not really. To me it's like she throws all sorts of weird shit together to be *artsy*. I am sure she has reasons and whatnot, and could probably tell you how being pantless all the time symbolizes the struggle of migrant Nicaraguan children or some nonsense, but I really think she just likes to be weird because it gets her attention. It's her schtick. Maybe I am too cynical.

Re: BTW - certainly interesting and eye catching but to me it just feels too much about HER. If the message is supposed to be about accepting yourself and others for who they are I don't think that came across that well. I would have liked to have seen something that included various types of real life people.

Drive by post here:
To funny, where in the world is AFL... You all are too much and yes, I think he expects, or expected, fans to run with the fun of the burrito.

Re: Gaga vid... not something I will watch over and over but my thoughts: 1) WOW what Adam could do with that type of budget, 2) Cool goo effects and visuals in the beginning but too much of the split/double effects but semi-interesting concept of different, 3) The song starts and I like the beat but can't get the Madonna songs out of my mind so will always cloud any real judgment of this song on its own, 4) Too much Gaga focus on the dancing but some interesting concepts - like her head in the series of heads, 5) WTF with the split front teeth photo and Madonna remind again, 5) Hmm, interesting but that didn't seem to fit the point of what I thought the song was suppose to be about. Nothing revolutionary here but some of the visuals were interestingly slimy...
Reading the YouTube posts it seems very love it or hate it - remind us of anyone. And yes it is getting talked about. Since Adam tweeted he wanted to view it is why I think it is fair game to make overview comment here. At least I hope so.
OK, I have to go off to work...

CAN'T WAIT TILL I GET HOME SO I CAN WATCH. THE THING IS, EVEN IF IT IS CRAP, PEOPLE WILL HAIL IT AS SOME EARTH SHATTERING NONSENSE SIMPLY BECAUSE IT'S GAGA. MY PROBLEM WITH HER, EVEN THO I LOVE HER MUSIC FOR THE MOST PART, IS THAT PEOPLE DON'T SEE HER OBJECTIVELY. SHE COULD HAVE A 5 MIN VIDEO OF HER TAKING A DUMP IN A FIELD AND PEOPLE WOULD HAIL IT AS *REVOLUTIONARY* LMAO.[/quote] This is all so true. It's GAGA so it has to be wondrous and have a great deep message and the duped fan world will go crazy over it, even tho to me it is a crazy mish-mash of special effects and of course, nude GAGA. And so she laughs all the way to the bank - or not - maybe she takes herself so seriously that she goes somberly to the bank as the lady messiah of the universe. *sigh* Adam - please DO NOT try to emulate this person. :-/ ETA- To me, this is even more pretentious than GAGA arriving at the Grammys in a womb/egg.

I would have liked to have seen something that included various types of real life people. My feeling as well. I found it visually fascinating - for a one-time view, but I have zero desire to view it a second time. I better start revamping my routine because I miss out ON SO MUCH FUN by not being on here in the wee hours. Last night - hysterical. Too bad I have to read this stuff after the fact. :(

To me, there are probably a hundred details in all those images that are interesting, sexy in a unique way, funny, and/or fascinating - the pink triangles, the glittery unicorn, the kind of crystal-peacock feathers behind her at one point, the opening image of her face - no, it's her hair and she's in that crystal prism (her nails, her jewelry, her cheekbone and shoulder prosthetics ), the image of her with wild hair and holding the gun while her dancers appear as little patterns around her, the way she joins them kneeling on the floor before she begins dancing like they're all in prayer or a yoga stance together, her bikini chains, the way she dances with abandon and features her body, the skull-duggery duo and that pony-tail (ha - LOVED that), the tape on her (like she would just do parts nude, but she can't, so she provides her own censorship bars), on and on and on up to the drawn on tooth gap (Madonna right?).
What I love about her mvs is how she puts so MUCH into it, I think she cares like crazy about all of it, and I appreciate that and enjoy taking it in. As for "story," she pretty much narrates that - the idea of a human race without prejudice that celebrates individuality and creativity and art but the feeling also that that can only be a race within a race, one created (birthed) by choice, and that threats to that will always exist too.
