In truth, I am a very bad critic. There's hardly a popular artist I don't like. The only one I can think of is Eminem, and that's on principle. I recognize and appreciate his talent despite myself, I just hate the HATE and VIOLENCE in his songs, but then again - that is what they're about, and "Love the Way Lie" (oh - there's Rhianna again) is SO exactly what I think is going on inside the cycle of domestic violence . . . ah, hell - I guess I do like him, too. Who just irrevocably sux? (And don't say Ke$ha - I like her.  I can't think of any pop artists that we hear on CHR that really sucks. They may not be my favorites, but for the most part there music is easy to like. At bigger issue for me is that much of it is so repetitive. I like Ke$ha, but that shtick gets old very fast. I don't like most of Rihanna's Only Girl in the World. It sounds like she's screaming at me. I only like the bridge of that song. This possible Rihanna single, Man Down is violent song. It's a song about killing a man who could have been sombody's son. That a non-sensnical lyric. Every man is somebody's son. The pa rum pa pum pum is the sound she makes for shooting someone several times with an automatic weapon. Later she sings about being a criminal and getting out of town. Does Rihanna get a pass on everything? |

I guess it one drops the alpha male and just uses alpha, it's politically correct? I did look the word up and in Websters ,it said the leader, the highest of member of ones ' own sex.. alpha male,alpha female. So Adam IMO being born a male would be an alpha male. I think article is a bit over the top in thinking that folks are trying to deny his sexual identity.

To me Alpha means leader, head of the pack, like alpha dog,gosh my female dog is alpha.. So I think the word can be used with either sex. I do believe Adam is an alpha personality because of his charisma and strong leadership qualities. I guess it one drops the alpha male or alpha female it's all politically correct? ^^^THIS! To me alpha male is synonymous with "leader" and it also canaa refer to the "A = alpha" type personality |

Mamadeb, your essay is beautifully written, but---
Adam is Alpha. He is male. I know a few of those.
I also know a few Alpha females. That in no way negates any of their character or characteristics, sexuality or otherwise. It just describes their abilites and leadership positions.

Most humans have both female and male traits.. so I think article is a bit over the top.I don't belabor the fact that Adam has female traits and is gay, I'm certainly not trying to deny his sexual identity. However, I still think he's an alpha male. I agree with you. There are male and female alphas. Identifying with Adam as an alpha male does not negate the reallity of alpha females or make alpha female any lesser in stature than the males. If many identify with the male traits that are Adam, I don't see how that means that people are rejecting or choosing to ignore those traits that are feminine. It's all Adam. I don't think twice about it. How many mainstream out and proud gay guys are considered sexy? I think most of the words that people use to describe Adam are an attempt to describe that duality. Perhaps, the words are a poor choice. In time, we will get it right. Thanks mamadeb for giving us something to think about. |
