I don't think I'd ever classify "Somebody to Love" as a ballad. Midtempo, maybe. He performed "Crazy Little Thing Called Love" on the radio last week with just an instrumental track as accompaniment. He was good. Of course, people were calling in (classic rock station) with ZOMG!!! NO ONE can do Freddie like that – I'm in tears!! I was a tad : because there was no mention of Adam (and that was right when all the press was happening about A possibly working with Queen). But whatever, it was Marc's big segment, so yay for him. It was also before they announced the winners and the DJs already had him crowned AND decided he ought to join Queen. (Marc also did a little backhanded swiping about Idol and how he never went on the show because he was a member of a band and yada yada "cred" ... ). LOL so much for cred. See what all that cred got ya....you are now a glorified cover band artist while the lowly Idol is performing with the real Queen. LMAO #bitchy Did he know who sang for Queen at the EMA? Jeezz.. Roger said he sounder exactly like Freddie.. so a real copycat :

I saw an interview where he said something to the effect that he was honing his tone to match Freddie... which is why the Idol/cred comment is mystifying to me.

Well, he phrased it in a way which made it seem like he was sticking with his band. He's the lead singer of a Christian rock band and they have been together for years and released something like nine albums. He kind of ducked the question and acted like, "I'm a band guy ..." Still, there was an underlying current of rawk dudes don't go on Idol. Overall, he seems like a nice, very grateful person, but pretty much made it clear he'd drop his band without a backward glance if Queen gave him the chance to join them. (My interpretation, anyway.)

Yay, guys! I can't believe it, an article about Adam in my mother tongue! Once in a blue moon event, for sure! via AdamLambertHelp And this is my lame translation:) News that went around the world is that the "American Idol" finalist Adam Lambert is supposedly the successor to the legendary Freddie Mercury. The legendary band did a 'royal' concert at the Belgrade Arena with Paul Rodgers as a lead singer, after which they worked hard on recording the new album with renowned musicians as guests and on setting up the new tour. Meanwhile, rumors started that the band was looking for a new singer, and even Brian May said that he negotiated with Lady Gaga to appear as one of the guests on the album. Now, press reports say the Queen "hooked" for Adam Lambert, the winner of a musical competition, with whom the band performed at the MTV awards. "Adam is slowly but surely turning into a great front man," said drummer Roger Taylor, who did not want to reveal whether Adam is just going to be a guest on the album or the new Freddie Mercury. The article is , as you can see, full of mistakes, I'm ashamed to say:) The link: t.co/WUqInmPnthe article ends w/ this>>> vimeo.com/31749728

I mean, he had a band right? So it's safe to assume he had his own musical aspirations so why try to make yourself sound like Freddie 2.0 instead of going with your natural gift? And for god sakes if you are gonna try to be a sound alike then why audition to front a queen cover band? Because from now on, for the rest of his career, he is going to be known as that dude who sounds like Freddie. He is basically making his whole career as Freddie Lite. I wouldn't think ANY musician would want to do that unless they knew they didn't have a chance to make it any other way. IDK. Or unless he is an intense Freddie stan. I wonder if Queen will ever invite him to sing onstage with them? (Or if he is bitter Adam seems to be the new go to guy for now) IDK how hardcore fans would react--would they hate the copycat vocals or call him the second coming? We know how they reacted to Adam singing with them, and even then I remember Queen fans praising the fact that he didn't try to sound a like...he brought his own sound to it. Plus no clue if he has even a fraction of the stage prsence Freddie had. Thats another plus in Adam's column. Anyways....whatever lol. EDIT: Oh Mark is a Christian rocker? Hrm...ok. Oh and thx Susie!

Maybe he's actually going for that, but most Queen fans don't like it when someone trying to imitate Freddie. I definitely don't like it. He's not Freddie, so don't even try to be his copy. And if he think it's a good thing then why he was not invited by Queen to sing with them. Roger and Brian said already that no-one can replace Freddie and it shouldn't be .. IMO that's why they prefer Adam, very theatrical and has almost the same vocal range as Freddie..
