I suppose the argument re using straight guys in films and ads is that they are not ready to use the gay men yet so it is either "pretend" gay or no gay....which is better!!! sigh.....
I agree with that. I have no problem with straight men playing gay roles. I would just like to see them also allow more gay men (if they fit the role) to also play straight roles and not only gay ones. It is acting so if they can play the part let them also have consideration. And guys like Harry seem to be carrying the "pretend" outside an actual role. It's ironic that for generations before this (20th century) we have found out that there have been plenty of gay men who have played straight roles on TV and movies. Nobody knew they were gay because NOBODY "came out" in those days. For some, their true sexuality wasn't know till after their deaths. And then, of course, there was Rock Hudson, who played very straight romantic leads for years until be died of AIDS, quite publicly, unfortunately. In recent years, there is much more sensitivity to "who plays what role" when it comes to sexuality. Gays have played straight roles, and straights have played gay roles for a long time. Sometimes we're aware of it and sometimes we are not. |

I've never been the biggest Harry Styles fan. He's not breaking new ground or anything as far as I'm concerned.
Got spoiled yesterday. Now I'm wondering what Adam is doing today!

Watched some Adam vids of course! Even Kelly Clarkson was a rerun today. Getting ready for Rupaul's Drag Race finale now which I'm looking forward to! |
