(New York – NY) Global superstar Adam Lambert will release his highly anticipated second album TRESPASSING (RCA Records / 19 Entertainment) on March 20th, 2012. The album’s first single “Better Than I Know Myself” will be made available for sale on December 20th at iTunes and all digital music providers. (Release dates are US; International dates vary.)

Beginning December 20th, fans who pre-order TRESPASSING from Adam's website, www.AdamOfficial.com will also receive an instant MP3 download of his new single "Better Than I Know Myself." Fans who pre-order from the store will also have first access to exclusive album configurations and upgrades.

Lambert describes TRESPASSING, which he executive produced as "an exciting journey through the past two years of my life. It's been a transformative period and I really wanted to make music from what I've experienced. All these songs honestly explore the ups and downs of my reality."

In addition to co-writing many of the tracks, Lambert collaborated with an all star list of award winning artists, producers and songwriters including Pharrell Williams, Dr. Luke, Claude Kelly, Benny Blanco, Bonnie McKee, Nile Rogers, Sam Sparro, Bruno Mars, Nikka Costa and BC Jean.

Here’s the schedule:

Yesterday: Adam tweets link to single cover photo. #BetterThanIKnowMyself trends worldwide. Within an hour, Twitter goes over capacity and crashes. First major service issue in over a month. Amazon posted the MP3 listing and included a 30 sec clip of the song which was removed after a couple of hours. AdamOffical.com put up a 30 sec clip of BTIKM.

Get ready, y’all, because the evolution of Adam Lambert has just begun.

See, I’ve had a chance to listen to the new Adam Lambert single, “Better Than I Know Myself,” — in full. Great news — it’s really, really good.

First off, I should say that the snippet, which was released today, doesn’t really do the song justice. You can hear that the chorus sees Adam reaching into the higher part of his register, with booming, “Halo”-like drums and a skittering backbeat. But part of what makes the song magical is the way it builds from the opening of whining synths and a nicely percussive backing track, then builds instrumentally into the chorus. Dr. Luke‘s signature style as a producer is the juxtaposition of relatively subdued verses and a huge, explosive chorus, and “Better Than I Know Myself” does that magnificently.

The added talents of Claude Kelly, too, who remains one of the finest songwriters currently in the game, augment the song’s impact, since Claude has a way of cutting to the core of an emotional conflict with quick, elegant images. “Cold as ice, and more bitter than a December winter night/That’s how I treated you,” Adam sings in the opening lyrics, a blink-and-you’ll-miss-it simile that speaks volumes.

The most emotionally potent moment is the bridge, where the richer synths yield to a tinkling piano and the lyrics turn unexpectedly vulnerable: “I get kinda dark/Let it go too far/I can be obnoxious at times/But try and see my heart.” It’s a lovely turn, with a candor that’s refreshing to hear in pop music, and it makes the song truly memorable.

In my piece last week for MTV Buzzworthy, I wrote that “My sources tell me that ‘Better Than I Know Myself’ is a piece of flaw-free radio candy, a stunning midtempo track with a powerhouse chorus that’s like a pumped-up ‘Whataya Want From Me,’ and it should cement Adam’s place in the pop A-list.” I’m sticking by this, especially the latter statement. “Better Than I Know Myself” is more radio-ready as anything on his last album, and I would be stunned if it didn’t perform excellently on the charts, and catapult Adam way further into the realm of superstardom than he’s ever been before.

Anticipation for Adam Lambert's new single, "Better Than I Know Myself," continues to build at a heart-palpitating pace. After months of semi-hibernating in the studio working on his second album, Trespassing, he's raised his perfectly coiffed profile as of late, previewing his album in Rolling Stone and appearing on "Project Runway," "Majors & Minors," "On The Line With Joe Zee," the American Music Awards, and, most thrillingly, on the MTV EMAs, closing out the show with a magnificent performance fronting Queen. Glamberts across the globe are no doubt psyched that their hero Adam Lambert has tweeted the cover artwork for his upcoming single, ‘Better Than I Know Myself.’

The shot of Lambert, with his gaze averted from the camera, is what you’d expect and what you might even term “vintage” Lambert. He’s cloaked in black, with his spiky, inky black coif and black eyeliner-rimmed eyes. All the Lambert signatures are in place.

The image is certainly enough to get our pulses quickening for a new Lambert song. Lambert may not have won his season of ‘American Idol,’ but he certainly won our hearts.

On a side note, with the expert hand with which Lambert applies eye kohl, he should become a MAC spokesmodel. He certainly makes “guy liner” in vogue.

Lambert’s second album ‘Trespassing‘ is due out next year with a spring release date being eyed. In the meantime, you can expect Lambert to drop the single ‘Better Than I Know Myself’ some time in the near future.

YESSSSSS! We have barely been able to breathe for the last 12 hours or so, ever since Adam Lambert sent out this tweet earlier this morning: “Countdown begins…. 12 hrs until a big unveiling….” All day, we’ve been pacing around the office, staring at our watches every couple of minutes, constantly refreshing our Twitter feed, wondering what the one and only Glambert was going to offer up to us. Would it be a special holiday video message to his fans? News that he’s joining Queen on a full-time basis? A picture of him wearing nothing but a piece of mistletoe?

Well, it ended up being none of those things, but we’re not complaining because guess what? A NEW SINGLE IS ON THE WAY! Adam just dropped the cover art for his new song, “Better Than I Know Myself,” on Twitter and announced that “it drops on December 20th! avail on all digital music providers. Happy Holidays!!” We haven’t heard Adam’s version of this track yet, but we’re huge fans of the demo of this song that Claude Kelly cut back in 2009. This song was written by Dr. Luke and Claude, both of whom has a history with Glambert; they co-wrote the title track off Adam’s 2009 debut, For Your Entertainment. (Most versions of “Better Than I Know Myself” have been scraped off the Internet, but if you search hard enough, you’ll be able to find it.)

ADAM LAMBERT: BETTER THAN I KNOW MYSELF (SINGLE REVIEW)

Get ready, y’all, because the evolution of Adam Lambert has just begun.

See, I’ve had a chance to listen to the new Adam Lambert single, “Better Than I Know Myself,” — in full. Great news — it’s really, really good.

First off, I should say that the snippet, which was released today, doesn’t really do the song justice. You can hear that the chorus sees Adam reaching into the higher part of his register, with booming, “Halo”-like drums and a skittering backbeat. But part of what makes the song magical is the way it builds from the opening of whining synths and a nicely percussive backing track, then builds instrumentally into the chorus. Dr. Luke‘s signature style as a producer is the juxtaposition of relatively subdued verses and a huge, explosive chorus, and “Better Than I Know Myself” does that magnificently.

The added talents of Claude Kelly, too, who remains one of the finest songwriters currently in the game, augment the song’s impact, since Claude has a way of cutting to the core of an emotional conflict with quick, elegant images. “Cold as ice, and more bitter than a December winter night/That’s how I treated you,” Adam sings in the opening lyrics, a blink-and-you’ll-miss-it simile that speaks volumes.

The most emotionally potent moment is the bridge, where the richer synths yield to a tinkling piano and the lyrics turn unexpectedly vulnerable: “I get kinda dark/Let it go too far/I can be obnoxious at times/But try and see my heart.” It’s a lovely turn, with a candor that’s refreshing to hear in pop music, and it makes the song truly memorable.

In my piece last week for MTV Buzzworthy, I wrote that “My sources tell me that ‘Better Than I Know Myself’ is a piece of flaw-free radio candy, a stunning midtempo track with a powerhouse chorus that’s like a pumped-up ‘Whataya Want From Me,’ and it should cement Adam’s place in the pop A-list.” I’m sticking by this, especially the latter statement. “Better Than I Know Myself” is more radio-ready as anything on his last album, and I would be stunned if it didn’t perform excellently on the charts, and catapult Adam way further into the realm of superstardom than he’s ever been before.
