12.15.11 "Better Than I Know Myself"

Woke up with the chorus playing in my head--what a wonderful start to the day!! I am overwhelmed with pride in this man. I am feeling profound yet scatterbrained so bare with me.

I guess I am alone here but I am not blown over by the cover, too subtle, no eyes. BUT here's the thing-- it is so very smart. I think part of the bias some have against Adam is his OTT looks, people don't even give him a chance based on how they feel about men in make-up, femininity, "weirdness". This photo is not just non-campy, it's very mainstream. You really don't even notice that he's wearing eye make-up. Smart, very smart. And, I guess, even I would like to see more of the real Adam and less than the "putting on a show" Adam.

I am now overcome with tranquility. All these months of build-up had me slightly worried about meeting expectations. Nothing short of world domination makes sense to me. But I realized this morning that there's nothing to worry about. Even IF this single and album don't rock everyone's world and put him on the top of the top, it will be ok. He has a strong loyal fan-base that is ever growing. He wins people over everywhere he goes. Maybe this album won't make him the next Elvis but it will sell, he's not going away and he will be respected by (almost) all --there's no question. I will be patient with the world domination thing IF I need to.

I feel the need to pause and give credit to the man who has been working his butt off while we all have been whining at the computer screen for a date. Wow, I am realizing now how much he puts into every note, not to mention what a circus act it must be dealing with all the details and executives. Oh, the time and energy! He's really done a good job learning the business, stretching himself, putting it all out there. Maybe I should have included DILIGENT in my three words to describe him.

That's about it. Sorry for the ramble. I LOVE the snippet. LOVE the MAN. Today is a good day!!

I'm still so excited. Again, I just love the cover.

I'm here at the office and of course decided to listen to the 27 sec snippet. As I am playing the song, my boss walks in my office. I ddin't turn down the volume. THe next thing I hear is her humming to the song! SOOOOO heck yea this is ear worm perfection! I feel a hit!! so excited.

One of the new additions to the OED today is 'earworm' in the sense of 'a catchy tune or piece of music which persistently.....stays in a person's mind, esp. to the point of irritation.' Our earliest recorded usage is from 1991.
