Guys, if that photo was being considered for the cover we wouldn't have seen it. The cover photo would be under wrap with tight security.. You know as well as I do they shoot many looks during these sessions. Outfits, lighting, attitude... Different! I am not going to argue about whether the Duran pic we see is the one and whether it is good or bad, because I'm positive it's not even inthe running. ^^^ This ^^^ There is no way any photo we have seen or any photo close to any we have seen is the actual album cover. Remember what a BIG surprise the FYE cover was!

I hate this picture and pray that the rest are better! I cringe with the thought that this is the album shoot! Noooooooooooooooo!!!!! I hate this picture. A lot. I hatehatehate the Frankengump hair. I hate the pose. I hate the pants. I won't be choosing to buy anything with an image like this emblazoned on it or in it (such as a deluxe cd with a photo booklet). I am perplexed as to what audience or demographic would be served by this image. I am boggled by the fact that here you have one of the most gorgeous celebrities in the world and THIS is the choice for promo for his new album? Yes, I really hate it. ETA: I asked my 18 year old dd, who is a huge Adam fan and also known for taking fashion risks/choices that puts her outside the norm of her Hollister/Aero/A&F wearing peers, and her reaction was basically, "WTF? Blech!" Wow. That's a lot of hate. Um.. Have you seen the FYE album cover? With blue hair, weird pose and photoshop from hell? Now.. Did you buy that album? He is taking risks, styling-vise, that is what Adam lambert does. Only it looks like that this time, with the first single, he possibly went uh-oh and re-shot the cover. Anyway. The cover doesn't matter the slightest. Maybe people are slightly more likely to click iTunes banner that is pretty than not, but it's the song that matters, not the cover.

I like the photo 'cuz the look IS challenging, as someone put it.
I think Adam looks avant gard in it - still beautiful (his mouth there - oh!), how could he not? But also a bit of deliberate defiance or dissonance (the cut's severity, bluntess, etc. vs. his gorgeous face).
It's kind of a jarring look (hey, that can sort of be a pun!) and I think he likes to do that sometimes.
(I think it's possible that for him his 'glamour shots,' like the single cover which everyone including me LOVES, might be a little . . . less than exciting. Adam could go around looking like he did on Grammy nite all the time - I thought that was his "best" look. But he doesn't. I think he likes to use his image sometimes to harmlessly mess a little with people's expectations, preferences, etc.)

Remember what a BIG surprise the FYE cover was! The single cover is divine. It is romantic, enigmatic Adam. The Duran pic is hard, edgy, dangerous Adam He ishandsome, desirable, cool and utterly breathtaking in both. One of the reasons I love Adam is because he is so layered, so deep, so INTERESTING. he never bores me. If he stuck to one style he'd be... Um... Michael Buble. Or Adam Levine. He wouldn't be "fuck em I'll wear what I want and carry it off " Adam Fucking Lambert.

Adam will do what he wants on the album cover but I sincerely hope that he saves the edginess for the music and performances -- and perhaps the special edition booklet. No need for it on the packaging.
That said, I hate the Lady Gaga motorcycle BTW cover and it didn't seem to hurt sales.

To me, that "avant gard" look is about as far from real as one can get. Ah well - it will be what it will be. I just hope it's far, far away from the FYE cover which WAS off-putting to potential and casual fans. Hell, I love him and it was off-putting to me. I think a cover like that was a mistake so early in his career.

On the new album cover ---- Blue hair + Glam do not go with the title "Trespassing". I am 99.999999999999% sure we will not get blue hair.

I don't think anyone was saying that his performance with Queen would make BTIKM a Top 10 hit. We were simply responding to your contention that kids did NOT care about Queen. We begged to differ.
I agree re: Bruno, but these are apples and oranges. I don't think ANYONE was contending the Queen performance had anything to do with BTIKM as a single. It simply went to raise his cache among a previously prejudicial audience and perhaps give them cause to pay attention to what else he was going to do musically.
I was speaking among rock stations. Many of the dominant ROCK stations here (not even bringing CHR/AC/HAC into the equation, as they were not at all relevant to the point) play classic only. Of the three major rock stations in the L.A. market, one plays alternative and two play classic only, so if kids today want to listen to rock, they're likely going to get classic, or a heavy dose of it mixed in (the alternative station plays a lot of alternative from the '80s and '90s as well).
Again, NO ONE was saying the Queen performance had anything to do with the viability of BTIKM as a single, but simply A) Kids are NOT oblivious to classic rock. They know it; they understand it and often respect it. And remember, they have means (video games, TV, Rock Band, parents' exposure, iTunes, YouTube, concert videos) that have NOTHING to do with radio. So just because Arbitron isn't reflecting it, doesn't mean kids don't know or appreciate iconic bands. Just as we in the '80s had hella respect for the Beatles, Elvis, Stones, Hendrix and other '50s and '60s legends.
And B) When he raises his awareness to an audience who might have otherwise been closed off to him because of genre prejudice or perceived "cred," their eyes can be opened by the Queen performance and because of that, they'll give the new material a chance. That's all I think most of us who were contending relevance to the Queen performance were saying.
