Queen’s Brian May ‘fit and ready to go’
after nearly dying from heart attack and stomach explosion

Queen star Brian May has promised he’s ‘fit and ready to go’ after suffering a heart attack last year. The guitarist has been recovering after his health scares, with the star clearly feeling back to his best as he chatted away on Good Morning Britain. Opening up about getting back in the studio with Adam Lambert, the 73-year-old teased that while the singer is ‘very busy,’ their studio sessions will be ‘happening in the near future.’ ‘We keep in touch but we’ll be out on the road this time next year, that’s the plan,’ Brian went on to say of their tour.
Emphasising the importance of keeping everyone safe at shows, he added: ‘We took the plunge and postponed for another year but we’ll be ready – I’m fit, I’m ready to go.’ Brian has said he’s ‘grateful to be alive’ after suffering a heart attack and nearly dying after his stomach exploded last year.
He revealed that he had a ‘small’ heart attack in May last year, in a video he shared on Instagram. Chatting to concerned fans, the We Will Rock You star explained that it didn’t do him ‘any harm’, and was just ‘40 minutes of pain’ in his chest.
He was treated for pain over a rip in his gluteus maximus – as well as a compressed sciatic nerve – when doctors also discovered three blocked arteries. When he was seen at the hospital, the doctors warned that he would need to either have a triple heart bypass or stents put in.
Brian, who’s been working on his blossoming career as a TikTok sensation this year, later spoke out about his recovery, explaining on GMB: ‘It’s been a big mountain to get up to strength again but it’s become my new religion really. ‘I’m happy to be alive because three years ago, that wouldn’t have happened. I had three stents in me, which are working just fine and I feel good.’
