OMG, that UK article is every shade of WIN. I have a very clear, still, zen like feeling that Adam is gonna bust the shit out of the UK this time round.
The advance
going on is WAY different to last year.
I still haven't come to terms with the EPIC that was the EMA's, I still get all weepy thinking about what a full circle moment that was for not only Adam, but also us, his fans that have followed this beautiful alien's trajectory from the beginning. It is obligatory that I watch that performance each and every day still - again and again and again.
If he does the Olympics (which looks more and more likely), I'mma gonna have to book a hospital room in advance. My heart is not going to be able to cope...lol
I havent weighed in on BTIKM yet. Hmmmmm.... I was lucky enough to be online when the leak first happened. It was midnight here and I am not normally up that late. The link popped up on my twitter feed and I nearly hyperventilated when I realised what it was.
I listened......
Twice.......
And..... I didn't like it...at all
So, I went to bed VERY disappointed.
Since then I have listened many times and definitely heard the improvement when the official soundcloud version came on line. And yes, I am warming up to it fianlly :
I don't know what exactly it is that doesn't gel with me.
I remember oh so clearly the day FYE single leaked. It was on my iPod within minutes and I then just locked the front door, shut off the world and went for a 3 hour walk with FYE playing on a loop. I could.not.get.enough.of.it. I was like that for weeks.
But the first listens of BTIKM just didn't do 'it'. I wanted oh so badly for it to make me spazz - and it didn't. So I shut up yesterday and watched the flail from afar, read comments ~everywhere and listened to the track many more times. And yes, it is definitely now making an impact on me. The only thing that I can describe as to the why of it, is that I'm not on board with 'the key of fuck' in the chorus. I adore Adam's smooth, velvety, rich, creamy lower register and I really like the verses, but then the chorus goes high. And yes, I know that the majority adore Adam's voice for this very reason, but to >>>
MY<<< ear, I find it jars - it's just a leetle bit shrill(ish) and I need to turn the volume down.
I have exactly the same problem with CLYG. I don't like that either. I'm fine with the verses, but the crashing swirling, crashing, crescendos in the chorus make me dive for cover...lol I don't know, it's possibly a physical ear malfunction on my part, because I do know that I am overly sensitive to noise. I get down right frigging stabby listing to children squeal for instance. I was also one of those that experienced the 'helium' effect, so maybe some eardrums resonate differently to others *shrug*
Now in saying all of that... from what I've been reading, the overall reaction to BTIKM is pretty flaily and positive and I couldn't be a happier camper for Adam. My opinion counts for diddly squat in the overall plan of things and I want soooooooooooooo...... badly for this single to smash it out of the ball park and make the rest of the world sit up and say "whoa - who is this dude?". Just like they did at the EMA's.
I may be somewhat ambivalent (at this stage) to BTIKM, but that won't stop me supporting it, voting on it and requesting it wherever and whenever possible.
