Thanks mys*&@^#r50 and Q3 for your answers. I'm just trying to wrap my head around why a few days of promo immediately before Christmas is so important. Although I do understand that by dropping the single now, it will be out there for the post Christmas buying using gift cards etc. and therefore does need promo. Round and round round we go.... So, we're all back to playing WITWIGNAFL right?

I think Adam will be in US when he debut BTIKM on radio. Unless something more important comes up. He works so hard for this moment. , press media other than radio station may pick up the news. Just strange that he won't be present himself in person. ???

***** WARNING. JUST FOR FUN. TOTALLY MADE UP ***** Adam originally planned to fly back to LA with the others. He and Sauli have been separated before. No big deal. Besides, Adam is gonna be super busy with promotion, and he doesn't celebrate the holiday anyway. Sauli needs the time with his own friends. Then, he saw Sauli's blog with all the photos of him with his Nordic guy friends. He read Mia and Zinnia's translation about how wonderful it was to be home with his good friends hosting a big party. Getting a hearty welcome. And, by his own words, Adam is a jealous guy. Maybe it IS time to go meet the family. And to walk up to anyone flirting with Sauli and stake his claim. Oh, and he found he really missed his lover and thought it would be romantic to "pop in" on him. If XFactor was/is scheduled, he would likely be heading back to LA - would want to have a super performance. If no XFactor, the Finland trip was probably planned and the ticket switch was part of trying to fly under the radar. Surely couldn't blame him for that! If there is no XFactor, the reasoning for the early single drop will come out sooner or later. We've had so much good news, I'm not going to worry about anything. Will just wish A & S Happy Holidays...

You know, maybe Adam wasn't asked to do X-Factor and planned all along to go to Finland. Maybe he wanted that to be a secret and hoped to get away without being caught! He could have sneaked quietly into Finland and no one would know, at least for a while. It's possible. :-/ Of course, this is a possibility and we manufactured the XF idea. BUT, it does not explain the date for the drop being moved up so suddenly. Remember, during the EMAs and the week after he was saying January. if there is no big promo this week, with the radio holiday freeze, January 4th or 11th would have been fine for the single drop. I might be confused but are we really, really sure he had no chance to pre-tape x-factor before China? there was the tweet from someone connected with Fox about adam, the band, and a "taping". I feel like I also read MJ saying something about watching the XFactor taping and their being surprises (which might have nothing to do with Adam, but suggests performers not already publicly shared) - please correct me if wrong. Also I still am kind of waiting for the other shoe to drop, possibly it's just the trying to fit in two singles/capture itunes xmas sales thing, but the adjustment of the schedule suggests something going on that we don't yet know about, therefore I feel I can't make any assumptions about promo or lack of promo until oh, early January or so?

If there is no promo other than phone calls to some of the major radio stations, what can we expect in terms of sales numbers for the first week of release? What would be considered a good number? I so want that appearance on the X Factor.

Maybe Adam just decided to give us the single early. Maybe he planned all along, if he could arrange it, to surprise Sauli in Finland. It is the holidays afterall. Everyone is busy planning family parties, etc. I'm sure he doesn't want people hanging around airports so he didn't tell anyone. I certainly don't plan on going to any airport to see if he shows up. I don't think anyone on this site is going to go to any airports to see if he will be there. What is the harm of us knowing (or guessing) where he is. We aren't going to stalk him. We just want to be happy for him (at least that is why I want to know). I am so happy he has someone to love and someone who loves him back. I hope he is going to be with Sauli. It's more important than waiting a few extra days to promo his single. I think he wanted it released early because all we did was whine about not having it. Maybe he got sick of reading all those whiny posts and decided to release the single earlier than he originally planned as a present for his fans.

Of course, this is a possibility and we manufactured the XF idea. BUT, it does not explain the date for the drop being moved up so suddenly. Remember, during the EMAs and the week after he was saying January. if there is no big promo this week, with the radio holiday freeze, January 4th or 11th would have been fine for the single drop. That has been my question all along. In my experience, doing promo this week of anything other than retail sales is an utter waste of time because the public is not paying attention. My work's entire pr/communications staff is essentially on vacation this week as are 90% of our vendors, for example. Moreover, the only news I'm seeing on my various feeds -- which normally have a lot of political chatter -- is about the Packers losing the football game today. Kim Jong II is dead, there is a deadly storm in the Philippines, the troops have withdrawn from Iraq and... nothing. No one's paying attention to anything important, let alone a piece of music news. So. Why drop a single during a dead zone and lose momentum? The only reasons would be to bury a single you don't think has a chance in hell or because you have a promo opportunity you cannot duplicate a week or two later. Taking that promo opportunity would indicate that you believe it will give you enough benefit to offset the risk of losing the diehard fan-driven momentum and general attention you would have gotten two weeks later. Of course, there is always the third option: stupidity, which is a vastly underrated causal factor in human decision-making. I will be interested to see if Adam does do any promo this week and if so, what it is. I'm hoping Adam is thick-skinned enough to ignore fan whining. After all, it's not like he's listened to fan whining about wanting to see more skin! LOL Moreover, I doubt TPTB would choose to blow the momentum of the release to give the single to fans as a present. They'd have been better off getting a new calendar out for people to buy -- even a digital download would have been a great merch opportunity.
