LambertUK Adam Lambert UK Listen: Adam Lambert 'Better Than I Know Myself - Softpedia - bit.ly/u4N1xc (via @ukglambert) news.softpedia.com/news/Listen-Adam-Lambert-Better-Than-I-Know-Myself-242244.shtmlAdam Lambert is back! Not that he was actually gone anywhere, but he's been working on his second album, as fans must know. The first single off it, “Better Than I Know Myself” is now out. While there's nothing negative to say about his debut album, “For Your Entertainment,” with this first single, it becomes clear that Adam is somehow moving away from the glam, to tackle a more soulful approach. With “Better Than I Know Myself,” Adam is experimenting. His voice is allowed the freedom to soar, so that he can show his full, impressive vocal range. At the same time, it's interesting to note that he hasn't picked a dance-y track for the leading single, especially considering that the gorgeous ballads on “FYE” were not at all promoted at the time. This in itself stands as proof that he's matured and, as such, he might go for a slightly different sound. Whichever that might be, Glamberts will certainly love it – it's not for nothing that they call Adam the perfect artist and entertainer.

why would Interscope care about Adam? I don't think labels plan their releases around "upstaging" new artists who have zero impact on their bottom line. Well, record companies are competive between each other so I don't see why it isn't a possibility especially since Interscope is now the Idol label and they might want to overshadow a SONY Idol. It's not so ridiculously out of the realm of possibility. Record labels DO jocky a lot of releases around what other record labels are doing in order to either avoid or invite comparisons. Nickleback and Daughtry were released together in spite of the fact that both bands asked not to be, but the record companies wanted it that way. Nickleback talked about this in an interview. I just don't see them using Madonna, an established ICON in the business for the purpose of overshadowing an artist who didn't even go platinum in the U.S. on his first release and who is just releasing his second album. Nickleback and Daughtry didn't want to be released together because they sound exactly alike. Madonna and Adam aren't even remotely similar. I also don't see interscope caring that an idol from two seasons ago is releasing an album. Scotty, their first idol is poised to outsell every idol possibly in the last 3 seasons so I'm sure they feel they've proven that they are more than capable to taking up the mantel for Idol contestants. Comments like this only make it seem like people believe Adam is a bigger star than he really is and it invites the "Adam fans are arrogant" meme which so many of Adam's detractors have adopted. Adam is amazingly talented and very successful but no one is worried about purposely overshadowing him IMO.

Madonna is a legend so I doubt she will suffer any career damage if her album doesn't sell like hotcakes. She can just cry into her pillows stuffed full of money. Agrees. Even if she doesn't sell like Adele she can still tour and collect millions. Last tour she grossed around 400 million - hardly chump change.

I am so thrilled with how the single is doing. The initial high numbers could be attributed to his crazy fans, but to sustain as it has makes me believe he is getting downloads from non fans as well. And all the positive reviews and press, talking about Adam like he is a long established, widely acknowledged superstar and stellar vocalist makes me warm and fuzzy.
Thnks to those who ventured over to the vocal master class thread and made comments. I love reading how others perceive Adam's voice. If you are caught up on this thread, jump on over and see what is being discussed. Add your own impressions.
(sorry, I am on my iPad and don't know how to copy and paste the direct link here. But, you can get there from the home page.)
