Oooooh, Lino...do tell
ETA: wonder who's getting Adam all these gigs lately? I don't even know who his "people" are at the moment.

That is going to be a bear of a song to sing six nights a week plus matinees. Adam definitely got the best (album only original cast) gig. Quoting myself from last night to say that I am obviously not surprised that song is not in the show. Besides who would really want to attempt it after Adam I really enjoy Adam’s new song! I love musical theater as such, so this one is a real treat! It’s a shame, that we just got this new song, but it’s already scratched from the actual show. On the other hand, this song doesn’t bring the story forward, is really long and hard to sing. So it’s no wonder, that it has been one of the first ones that had to go. Maybe the show had become too long...

nightowl — I love the song as well and would really love to see Adam perform it. The song gives Prince Charming that Gaston in Beauty and the Beast vibe and I could see Adam leaning into the theatrics of it. ALW appears to be really trying to tell the Cinderella story in a more modern way.

I LOVE hearing the "Adam Lambert" come from ALW's lips. He's certainly aware of the talent Adam possesses. Hope there is more to come between the two of them. Just having ALW on Adam's resume is a real coup.
Sorry to hear about the song being cut, but I agree that it likely did not fit well into the show. BUT we get to hear Adam sing it perfectly as many times we want to on the soundtrack.
As for Lino, he ADORES Adam. I hope their next project is a real success!

Not too upset that Adam's solo song was cut from the show. Adam was not going to be in the show anyway. But he is fantastic on the album and I'm glad the album soundtrack is selling well.
Wonder what Lino has in the works?

Upon first hearing of the Witch song, I immediately thought "Who can they find to sing THAT 6 shows a week?" There are several D5s and that insane F5 at the end. Anything higher than ad A4 or so would be hell for a tenor usually. That F5 is almost an octave higher, in soprano territory.
Not surprised it didn't make the final version of the musical for that reason. Also, it has that very odd couple of phrases in middle that seem to suddenly change keys. The first time I heard it I thought Adam must have flubbed the melody line or something. (It does hit the bottom of his usual singing range, where he doesn't have much power and punch.) But, on repeated listening, that phrase is written that way, and, is very hard to transition to, but Adam got it.
I know that many, maybe most of Adam's fans think his voice was made for rock and that is the lane he should go to. Me? He is perfect for musical theater. Such a versatile voice, with a variety of colors and textures, the ability to be tender or powerful, gruff or smooth. And his delivery as an actor shines thru. Ah, how I wish one time we could see him do a lead in a musical. Yeah, I'm not holding my breath.

Adam sings Andrew Lloyd Webber..... FOR Andrew Lloyd Webber! That opens up all kinds of possibilities in my head. Webber, for those of you not into musical theater, is arguably the most successful and respected musical composer in the past 50 years. He is the composer of Jesus Christ Superstar, which Adam has always wanted to perform. If he wasn't familiar with Adam's work and abilities before, Adam has just given him a stellar demonstration. Webber could very well be blown away with Adam's voice and drama. Just imagine if, after hearing Adam kill this song, Webber was inspired to write something for Adam! Or pair up with him on some project. If Queen is the ultimate Rock music collaboration for Adam, Webber would be the equivalent in the musical theater world. And a little bit of trivia, Adam performed in a production of Webber's first successful Broadway musical, Joseph and the Amazing Technicolored Dreamcoat. Andrew Lloyd Webber was involved in the live TV production of Jesus Christ Superstar, so I guess he's had the chance to hear what Adam is capable of. I always hoped he would do something else with Adam after having had that experience, so when we first heard he's invited Adam to sing on Cinderella's soundtrack, I assumed that must be why. But Adam wasn't involved in the TV production of JCS. Why would Webber have had an opportunity to hear Adam in it? Or is my memory faulty?

It just seemed to come out of nowhere with the oddest key change, and I kept wondering how the hell you would find those notes.

cassie — That song has some very rock sounds for a musical theater number. Begins rock and roll — then very musical theater in the story-telling middle — ends arena rock to the stratosphere!

cassie — That song has some very rock sounds for a musical theater number. Begins rock and roll — then very musical theater in the story-telling middle — ends arena rock to the stratosphere! Agreed. Musical theater and Rock have become combined for a while. Jesus Christ Superstar is a good example. Rent is another one that comes to mind. And there is a lot more belting in modern musicals. To me, the song sounds like musical theater still because Adam's voice is still rich, very well controlled, pure, exact, and very dramatic.
