OT, but I'm sure there are other Husbands fans here so if you're one, take a look at this great review in The New Yorker(!). Scroll down past the review of Parenthood: The New Yorker Reviews HusbandsHaven't watched the show, but it's pretty cool that the New Yorker is writing about Cheeks. Good for him. I do think he's really witty and amusing. Give it a try! It's very funny--so many quotable lines! husbandstheseries.com/

I have been stunned and silent the last few days. The "event" last week, so atypical and dumb. It's not as if "he" hasn't been around the world in "bars". So we had four people who are very prominent in Finland all hitting the newspapers with varying degrees of negative press. My question: What the hell was the bouncer doing? A club open to 4am and serving alcohol must have had other "events". A bouncer's purpose ought to be more than calling the police. I thought they grab a combatant and drag them out of the scene. Guess my bar room fight knowledge is poor. Why this played out the way it did just fries me. I have felt the same way. We will never know what really transpired but I have wondered about the supposed bodyguard hired by Adams mgt co and where was he and how did he allow this to happen. I think we all agree that more protection is needed even for intimate situations. I think also about how vulnerable Adam must have felt not knowing the language at all. When I listen to Sauli's Tutka and then read the transcript I am like Wut! Huh!! so imagine being in a crowded room with everyone talking and then add some alcohol and jet lag. But if a bodyguard had been close by this situation should have been averted. jmo I know I should not, but since I'm in the mood I will. And this has only slight connection to the messages I'm citing - just wanted to get this out in general : I think Adam came without bodyguard? It was a private visit anyway and in general, this is not a bad place fanwise and also one of the safest countries worldwide. People usually keep their distance since we highly respect privacy. And please remember - most Finns, and even the police do speak English. I don't think Adam's management had anything to do with this visit, not even with the club organizing VIP section and so. DTM has been one of Sauli's favorite clubs since even before BB at 2007, he's well know and VIP there anyway. The fact that he's in town and with Adam would automatically have alerted the manager to do those arrangements to make their visit to the club smooth and to guarantee some privacy for them and their company if they wished so. Or Sauli or one of his friends could have visited there earlier to tell they'd be coming that night. What happened, happened and we don't know all the background. And - like the police officer said it was a very minor event and similar things happen in Finland most likely every day and place. No big deal - in this country. But because of the mixed reports of possible assaults the police had to take them in and let them sober up before questioning them. If they'd been some American fellow called John Smith and a Finn by name Matti Virtanen, no news at all. Regarding the bouncers - their job is to get the trouble out of the club and if it looks so to them/they've been told something happened like assault call the police to take care of the rest of it. The police will then decide if they'll take the peeps involved in to the station, or to the drunk tank or let them just go. And that's what happened in this case. The boys made news world wide, hopefully learnt a lesson about too much vodka especially with jetlag and are still going strong as a couple, as far as we know/hope/etc. Let's move on, I'm pretty sure they'd like to do that too. Where to is the next ride in this fandom....? I'm booking my ticket already.

Soooo . . . we haven't really heard why Adam's invitation to sing with Queen at the EMA's was only a week ahead of time--have we? There was speculation that he was replacing Gaga. Anything else or more definite? That just seems really short notice for such a high profile event. Or maybe Queen was slated to perform and asked Adam at the last minute so they could. Anyone know any more? I was thinking about this while driving the other day and began to think that little details ( IMO only) point to Gaga as the possible collaborator, then it kind of ... fell apart. PURE CONJECTURE from me, but ... • The rumors were persistent and reported in a few places about Gaga fronting Queen, then they abruptly stopped right before EMAs. Although, one of her fans reported hearing a broadcast or interview the day before that said she would be singing with Queen. • Adam's last-minute call. • Roger's rhetoric about the collaboration being "effortless," which is how he described the performance with Adam more than once, which is kind of an odd choice in words. I wondered if he was saying it in contrast to a previous attempt at a collaboration that had been anything but. • Brian's statement of, "It's never going to happen," when asked about Gaga collaboration – after he had just performed with her on the VMAs in August – seemed uncharacteristically blunt for him. • Also Gaga wearing that huge saucer in front of them and appearing to give them little notice whatsoever during the audience portion kind of hinted at distance to me. I began wondering if perhaps they did make an attempt at collaborating and it just was not gelling to the point that Brian and Roger said, "We can't do this ... we need to change plans and now!" I kind of thought the whole scenario made a lot of sense. THIS. Seems good sleuthing to me. I certainly got that very definitive vibe too, as in the area Queen/Gaga is over - period. We will never know the exact timelines, but I also tend to trust that the lady from the Times got this right. It may have been closer to 10 days rather than 1 week though, because Adam was asked to come to Heidi Klum's Halloween parties and he did not give any public response. Not that he needed to, he could have contacted Heidi behind the scenes, but it just seemed odd, given that Heidi had used twitter presumably to make him either attend or at least respond. My suspicion is that Adam had just found out about the EMAs and was trying to re-juggle his otherwise busy Exec. Producer calendar to fit everything in, but that means that a week before 10/31/11 he must have already known. Still very tight timeline. I can also totally see how Gaga would try to make a performance about 'HER show must go on', instead of Queen's show and it is not like she could handle these kind of vocals with ease - in fact I cannot imagine how she would sound singing this ever. A further indication to me that SusieFierce may be onto something is the knee-fall that Brian makes at the end of their performance. That had all kinds of 'Thank you - Halleluja - finally' written all over it, as in... he never thought he'd see this happen and that to me could mean any one of various things: a) TSMGO finally got performed live in its original key and sounding like it was intended; b) A performance of Queen together with Adam, which Brian always had wanted and c) pulling off any performance at the EMA's with a qualified frontman on short notice. We will probably never know.

It is just all so logical, to me, especially in light of all the Gaga rumors.

stardust tks OK is there any speculation for a NY Eve appearance at anyone of the NY specials? My guess would be no since he really doesn't have a new CD out. WOuld they have him sing a new song which hasn't even been released yet? also when does TV open up again for new guest appearances? I'm assuming we can count of Ellen No, there is no confirmation about NYE, but that has nothing to do with him not having a CD out, because he certainly has a single out and will promote that single in January. It's insane to think that he won't. He did hightail it back to the U.S. this very dead week for some reason though. If it's not NYE (and I think he certainly could have performed on some show if he wanted). My guess is perhaps wanted one last hurrah with Sauli before plunging headlong into promo mode. I thought – though L.A. will be very quiet this week – he could still be having planning meetings for the video, which I predict he'll shoot next week. He can still meet with director and art director to discuss look, FASHION, casting, etc. They shoot next week and begin talk show promo for the single toward the end of the week – radio, Leno, Conan or other L.A. shows. Ellen probably won't come back until 1/9, but I would totally think he'll be on her show that week. I fully expect him to do that standard rounds of talk shows (there are MANY), where he can promote BTIKM leading up to it going to radio at the end of January, when the video is likely to be released as well. Then, as Shosh has already said, he can go to UK in February and promote BTIKM there and in other international appearances (following Kelly C's pattern, in particular). After that, he can segue almost seamlessly into album promo, hitting the shows he hadn't previously hit. (Though I would NOT be surprised if he hit Ellen and Leno twice, but probably not until second single is named ...) I would really look at Kelly's pattern and imagine he would be doing every very similar throughout.
