Ah, please explain, what is vasta/vihta? LOL, a vasta or vihta is a bathing whisk made of fresh birch branches. You use it to whip yourself with it gently. I remember NoAngel was a bit shocked at first when I told her about this! ;D And since it's winter and you can't get fresh birch branches here, you use ones that have been frozen during the previous summer just for this particular purpose. ok, thanks, miachihu. That sounds like it could hurt but probably it's just invigorating! I do love a sauna, much preferable to a steam for me. I love the idea of family experiencing this relaxation together. I bet Sauli loved sharing these traditions with Adam.

Sauna is a great experience. After I go the gym (or I might say after I used to go to the gym) I always had a sauna. And now it's common for many people to have a sauna at home too. Don't you use sauna's in the US? yes, saunas are pretty common here. when I was a child, I went to one that had the birch-branch whisk, which I found thrilling.

Best single : Adam's are the best, Bruno is my second choice, then Adele - Set ring to the fire Jordon Knight - Lets go higher Coldplay -paradise Timbaland - Apologize ;D ;D ;D recurrent on my 2011 playlist ETA1 : I have tried Sauna a few times and was told to have a very cold shower or jump into an icy river afterward to deep clean the skin. Is that true ??? ;D I think I prefer a whole body massage instead of the Birch thing ;D.. ETA2 :

Everyone could learn a lesson from # 2: MOVE ON If WE can't move on, why do we expect the media to move on? Another thought. We always kid around about Adam lurking at ATOP, and if he does, he's probably shaking his head in dismay at us hanging on to the one tiny, itsy-bitsy piece of negativity in an otherwise wonderful few weeks. Maybe I'm just overly-sensitive to this, but I have a wonderful ex-husband who I talk to often, but when I get off the phone I'm exhausted. I told him once that if he was yanked up to heaven during the Rapture, he'd be whining about having sweats on instead of a suit. Some people CANNOT STAND THE IDEA of being happy and content. Tra, la, la..... skipping off to meet Truffaut

It's got nothing to do with the idea of causing pain, it's just, like you said, to stimulate the blood circulation at the surface of your skin and to invigorate you. And you use very thin branches, not thick ones, so they are actually very soft when they have leaves on them. Oh yeah, that's an essential thing - the leaves are still in the branches - forgot to mention that! ;D

And people try to say that Adam isn't a good role model. Look at all the teaching moments he provides. ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D

I'm gonna cheat by a few weeks with best album. Elton John and Leon Russell - the Union. These two living legends are epic, the album is great and got huge ratings (if little radio airplay). I was lucky enough to be at their opening night of The Union tour at the Beacon Theater. I realize that Leon is an acquired taste, but I love him. For any Elton or Leon fans, here's a link to listen to that whole concert. www.npr.org/2010/12/07/131848263/elton-john-and-leon-russell-live-from-the-beacon-theatreMy favorite song on the album. Leon wrote it about his experience of being asked by Elton to make this album. In the Hands of Angels

I'm now wishing there was a traditional Finnish sauna nearby so I could try it out.
