And I got lost again - this time on Wikipedia.... We know that Trespassing borrows the bass line from Queen´s Another one bites the dust, right? Another one bites the dust was written by John Deacon. So I´m asking myself - if you want to borrow the bass line from this song - whom do you have to ask? John Deacon? Someone else? I just know John Deacon is pretty critical when it comes to covers of Queen songs. About Robbie Williams who collaborated with Brian May and Roger Taylor on a cover of We will rock you he said: "It is one of the greatest songs ever written but I think they've ruined it ... I don't want to be nasty but let's just say Robbie Williams is no Freddie Mercury. Freddie can never be replaced – and certainly not by him" (From Wikipedia - original site - not found ) I would love to know what he thought about the performance on the EMAs - but we will probably never know. On a side note: The bass line of another one bites the dust was inspired by....... "Good Times" by Chic........band member of Chic.......Nile Rodgers..... and we are back on Trespassing. I love such coincidences. I really should try to get some actual work done anytime now : . Good question. I wonder whose permission he would need...I am assuming the song is credited writing wise to multiple people in the band then? Would he need ALL of their permission to sample it or just one of th writers? I wonder how that works? If so--that he did need Deacon's permission--then that speaks VERY HIGHLY about their opinion of Adam and his talent and their professional relationship with him. Even if Deacon had no say and it was just Brian and Roger's call, that's still a pretty big vote of confidence in him to let him sample such an iconic bass line. Has it ever been sampled before? Anyone? Eeep that Deacon quote is pretty cut throat but hey.....it's prolly kinda true. Really curious now what the deal is with this.

The Dream - That John Deacon reunites w/Brian and Roger for the Olympic gig and, of course, Adam is frontman... Dream BIG! ;D ;D

I just clicked on the Pittsburgh radio station and was playing BTIKM when my granddaughter piped up, "My favorite song again." Last night we were "pretending" and the latest scenario is a wedding and she is the bride and we have to go through the whole thing, vows and all. (My niece had a huge wedding Oct 1 and Janie was fascinated by all the hoopla) When we took the vows, we were Tessa and Peyton (?) but when we came to the dance part of the reception she went on the desktop and asked how to spell BTIKM. We started to dance to it and she said, "I want to change your name (the groom) to Adam. I think he'll be too old to marry him when i grow up." By the way, we danced through at least 8 or 10 repeats of BTIKM. I could almost hear the eyeroll when I heard Janie tell her mom, "I just married Adam Lambert." Oh well, one convert at a time. awww Savvy I love this story So Sweet

So that means he would hold the right to say whether or not someone can sample it then? Has it been sampled before--because if not, and if he really is as ~discerning as that quote suggests, then this is a pretty BIG thing. Because come on it's not like he NEEDS to let people use the riff, it's not like he isn't rolling in the dough. Imma be optimistic and say that maaaybe he likes Adam =)
