If so--that he did need Deacon's permission--then that speaks VERY HIGHLY about their opinion of Adam and his talent and their professional relationship with him. Even if Deacon had no say and it was just Brian and Roger's call, that's still a pretty big vote of confidence in him to let him sample such an iconic bass line. Has it ever been sampled before? Anyone? Not "Another One Bites the Dust", but "Ice Ice Baby" used the bass line from Queen's"Under Pressure." Not the same level artist I want Adam compared to, but still a sample used by someone else.

Oh wow. So that means he would hold the right to say whether or not someone can sample it then? Has it been sampled before--because if not, and if he really is as ~discerning as that quote suggests, then this is a pretty BIG thing. Because come on it's not like he NEEDS to let people use the riff, it's not like he isn't rolling in the dough. Imma be optimistic and say that maaaybe he likes Adam =) I´ve got no idea how that works - that´s why I put it out there. I´m hoping someone knows more. I´ll edit my original post because I´m causing some question marks. :-[ The info about the bass line is from the Times article.

Yeah but remember he infamously STOLE that bass line and then in an interview tried to say it was different and I think he got sued. I am sure u can find that interview on youtube or something lol

I just clicked on the Pittsburgh radio station and was playing BTIKM when my granddaughter piped up, "My favorite song again." Last night we were "pretending," the latest scenario is a wedding and she is the bride, we have to go through the whole thing, vows and all. (My niece had a huge wedding Oct 1 and Janie was fascinated by all the hoopla) When we took the vows, we were Tessa and Peyton (?) but when we came to the dance part of the reception she went on the desktop and asked how to spell BTIKM. We started to dance to it and she said, "I want to change your name (the groom) to Adam. I think he'll be too old to marry me when i grow up." By the way, we danced through at least 8 or 10 repeats of BTIKM. I could almost hear the eyeroll when I heard Janie tell her mom, "I just married Adam Lambert." Oh well, one convert at a time. This is my fav Adam story! Lol So cute! I just married Adam Lambert.

where did the sales number of 39K this week for BTIKM come from? I can't find a source and don't want to repeat that information elsewhere without confirmation that it's accurate. The ONLY place I have seen it is in Renee Snyder's Gather article. It has not shown up on any of the boards I check for sales numbers and Brian Mansfield hasn't reported it on his blog either. Renee is the one that is or was associated with ainow I believe.

I am sure u can find that interview on youtube or something lol Couldn't remember any specifics, lol, so oops- bad example. Also cannot remember how Queen handles their songwriting credits- something in me wants to say that regardless of who actually wrote it credits were generally shared 25/25/25/25, but I have no idea why I think that. Could be another band entirely. I think it pretty safe to assume that if one of Adam's songs uses a Queen sample, then he obtained permission and even a blessing from whomever has the authority to grant such things.

I'm not linking this but if you head on over to DDD's music forum Gregsynthbootlegs has recorded a conversation he had about Adam's TSMGO performance and put it on youtube. Greg is Freddies biggest fan and is always going on about how Adam is off pitch when no one else on the forum can hear it. I'm interested to hear Cassie's response on this.

4Msrmyn Thank you for taking us back to Idol and the tour, this morning. For some reason I watched both videos through tears. So emotional today, yikes!

Actually they were saying he was off key because he went too high on the high notes. He has no soul because his singing is effortless and oh yeah, he has a goat vibrato. Basically they think he sucks but I am not even going to bother to comment because I could only listen to about 3 or 4 minutes considering none of them seem to be able to string together an intelligent coherent sentence. I think they are actually looking for fans to blast them so they can laugh about supposedly clueless people defending Adam.
